Tiger Woods shot 79-77 over two rounds at Royal Troon to tie his worst career 36-hole score in a major championship, according to the Twenty First Group’s Justin Ray.
“Well, it wasn’t very good,” Tiger said after his Friday round. “I made a double there at 2 right out of the hopper when I needed to go the other way. Just was fighting it pretty much all day. I never really hit it close enough to make birdies and, consequently, made a lot of bogeys.”
Woods’ total of 156 tied his performance from the 2015 U.S. Open and put him ahead of only five players on the leaderboard when his day was over.
