Jessica Pegula broke through to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal, ending a run of six consecutive losses in major quarterfinals by defeating World No. 1 Iga Swiatek at the US Open on Wednesday.
Pegula, the No. 6 seed, was unflappable en route to a 6-2, 6-4 win. She’ll face Karolina Muchova in the next round.
