Inter Miami have named Javier Mascherano as their new head coach, replacing Garardo Martino.
Martino departed Miami last week in the aftermath of the side’s surprise elimination from the playoffs, with former Barcelona boss Xavi quickly touted as a potential replacement.
It’s another ex-Blaugrana charge who takes control, however, with Mascherano set for his first taste of senior management after growing his reputation with Argentina’s youth sides.
Mascherano inks a contract through the 2027 Major League Soccer season and reunites with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez.
