Unify League: A New Era for European Football Begins

Posted on December 17, 2024December 17, 2024 by Santiago Leon

For decades, European football competitions operated under a monopolistic structure, offering limited room for innovation and change. However, a landmark ruling by the European Court of Justice in December 2023 has transformed the footballing landscape. This decision has created opportunities for fresh ideas and fairer competition, paving the way for a bold new era.

In response to this shift, A22 has announced the Unify League, a groundbreaking proposal for a new European football competition. The organization has formally initiated the process for official recognition with WIFA and FIFA, aiming to redefine the future of European football for clubs, leagues, players, and fans.

The Structure of the Unify League

The Unify League introduces a format designed to address current challenges in European football while ensuring an exciting, competitive experience.

Men’s Unify League

• A four-league structure: Star, Gold, Blue, and Union.

• 96 clubs from 55 countries will qualify annually, based on their performance in their domestic leagues.

Women’s Unify League

• A two-league structure: Star and Gold.

• 32 clubs from 52 countries will qualify, offering a new level of elite competition.

Solving Oversaturation and Enhancing Competition

Recent European competitions have struggled with oversaturation and a lack of unpredictability, leading to matches that fail to attract fans. The Unify League addresses this issue by splitting the top competitions into two highly competitive leagues—Star and Gold.

This format enhances unpredictability, ensuring thrilling, meaningful matches throughout the season. Additionally, the home-and-away format in the early stages revives a cherished football tradition, offering fans a greater connection to their favorite clubs.

Unify: A Direct Connection with Fans

The Unify League will be housed on Unify, a state-of-the-art direct-to-fan streaming platform.

Key features of Unify include:

• Free, ad-supported viewing for all fans.

• Affordable premium subscriptions for an enhanced experience.

• Elimination of the need for multiple streaming services.

• Advanced viewing features designed for modern audiences.

Beyond streaming, the platform will create a direct connection between clubs and their global fan bases, enabling stronger engagement and fostering a deeper sense of community.

Collaboration for the Future of Football

A22 believes that football’s future must prioritize everyone—fans, players, clubs, and leagues. The Unify League is not about competing with existing organizations but about improving the game for all stakeholders.

A22 is committed to working collaboratively with WIFA, FIFA, and the broader football community to ensure the success of this vision.

The Future Begins Now

The Unify League represents a new chapter in European football—one that respects tradition while embracing innovation. By prioritizing fairness, excitement, and direct fan engagement, the Unify League aims to deliver a better football experience for all.

With A22 leading the way, the future of football has arrived.

Welcome to the Unify League.
