Lions’ Montgomery avoids season-ending surgery

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery won’t be undergoing season-ending knee surgery, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Montgomery will instead rehab his injury with hopes of returning in the postseason, Rapoport added.

Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Wednesday that the Lions were holding off on putting Montgomery on injured reserve and would get another opinion on the 27-year-old’s knee.
