Since the NFL lifted its one-shell rule in 2022, 24 of 32 teams have introduced alternate helmets, with more joining in 2025. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers will debut alternate helmets this summer, marking their first new designs since the rule change. Additionally, the Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders, and New Orleans Saints will also unveil new alternate helmets, potentially as second alternates.
Some teams, like the Dolphins, 49ers, and Raiders, use throwback logos without changing helmet shells, while six teams — including the Bills, Chiefs, Rams, Raiders, Dolphins, and 49ers — have yet to introduce a second shell. The new helmet designs are expected to be revealed in July 2025.
