The New York Jets are hiring Denver Broncos assistant general manager Darren Mougey to be their new GM, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Mougey beat out Cincinnati Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown and Washington Commanders assistant GM Lance Newmark for the gig.
The announcement comes three days after New York hired Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as head coach. Broncos head coach Sean Payton recommended both Mougey and Glenn, according to The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt.
Mougey, 39, began his executive career with the Broncos in 2012, winning Super Bowl 50 in 2016. He was promoted to assistant GM in 2022.
