New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray tore his right Achilles tendon Friday and will miss the rest of the season, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Murray fell to the court after collecting his missed shot and was eventually carried to the locker room by Pelicans staff. He recorded four points on 2-of-6 shooting along with five rebounds across eight minutes in the team’s 118-116 loss to the Boston Celtics.
The 28-year-old was averaging 17.9 points, 7.6 assists, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 30 games entering play Friday. He missed 17 contests at the beginning of the campaign because of a fractured hand. The Pelicans went 3-14 over that stretch and are 12-37 on the season, ranking 14th in the Western Conference.
