Tua: ‘I would be good’ with fresh start away from Dolphins

Posted on January 5, 2026January 5, 2026 by Santiago Leon

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa signaled Monday a potential change of scenery following a turbulent season with Miami.

Tagovailoa described the idea of a fresh start elsewhere as “dope,” just one day after the Dolphins’ regular-season finale, according to The Palm Beach Post’s Joe Schad.

“I would be good with it,” added Tagovailoa, who was benched by Miami in the final stretch of the regular season and may have played his final down with the team that drafted him fifth overall in 2020.

Tagovailoa has started 76 games over six campaigns with the Dolphins, but multiple injuries have limited him to only one full healthy year. He became a Pro Bowler and led the NFL in passing yards in 2023 while elevating Mike McDaniel’s offense.

However, Miami and Tagovailoa couldn’t replicate their offensive success in 2025. In 14 starts, Tagovailoa threw a career-high 15 interceptions before losing the starting role to seventh-round rookie Quinn Ewers on Dec. 17.
