Trinity Rodman has signed a three-year deal with the Washington Spirit, the team announced on Thursday. The deal carries a $1 million annual salary, per ESPN, making her the highest-paid women’s soccer player in the world.
Rodman, 22, was the Spirit’s first-round pick (No. 2 overall) in 2021 out of Washington State. She was the youngest player to be drafted at the time, at 18 years old, and went on to win the league’s Rookie of the Year award as the Spirit won their first NWSL championship. The Spirit have failed to lift the league trophy since, losing in the championship match in each of the last two seasons.
During her five-year professional career, Rodman has also become a star in international play. She has scored 11 goals in 47 appearances and helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
