NFL Free Agency 2026: Ranking All 32 Teams to Watch This Offseason

Posted on March 5, 2026March 5, 2026 by Santiago Leon

The 2026 NFL free agency period is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing offseasons in recent memory. With teams navigating salary cap space, blockbuster trades, and roster rebuilds, every franchise enters free agency with a different level of urgency.

Some contenders are looking to add the final pieces for a championship run, while rebuilding teams hope to use their cap flexibility to reshape the future of their roster. Below is a ranking of all 32 NFL teams based on how interesting they are to watch during the upcoming free agency cycle.

1. Los Angeles Rams (Projected Cap Space: $42M)

The Los Angeles Rams have already made a major splash by acquiring All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for four draft picks.

Even with quarterback Matthew Stafford approaching age 38, the reigning MVP still appears to have plenty left in the tank. With over $40 million in cap space, the Rams could make several strategic additions to maximize another potential Super Bowl window.

2. Denver Broncos ($21M)

Denver finally gets financial relief after Russell Wilson’s contract officially comes off the books. For the past two seasons, Wilson was the Broncos’ highest-paid player despite no longer being on the roster.

With a strong defensive unit already in place, the Broncos could become a serious contender if they add playmakers on offense during free agency.

3. Dallas Cowboys (-$58.4M)

The Cowboys enter free agency with significant cap challenges, but owner Jerry Jones has once again promised aggressive spending.

Jones recently said he’s willing to “bust the budget” this offseason. However, fans remain skeptical after similar promises in the past. Dallas will likely need to restructure contracts before making major moves.

4. Los Angeles Chargers ($84.9M)

Few playoff teams have as much flexibility as the Chargers. After finishing 11–6 last season, Los Angeles enters the offseason with nearly $85 million in projected cap space.

The return of two elite offensive tackles from injury could stabilize the offensive line, while the front office has plenty of room to pursue high-profile free agents.

5. Buffalo Bills (-$8.8M)

The Bills once again fell short in the playoffs, which led to the dismissal of head coach Sean McDermott. However, general manager Brandon Beane remains in charge of reshaping the roster.

Buffalo’s top priority will likely be improving the offensive weapons surrounding their star quarterback while navigating limited cap space.

6. Tennessee Titans ($90.4M)

The Titans have the most projected cap space in the NFL, giving them a unique opportunity to rebuild their roster.

The challenge is that Tennessee also has numerous holes across the lineup. The development of quarterback Cam Ward, who has shown promise, gives the franchise a foundation to build around.

7. Kansas City Chiefs (-$8.6M)

Kansas City is coming off a shocking 11-loss season, creating uncertainty around one of the NFL’s recent dynasties.

Complicating matters further is Patrick Mahomes’ recovery from a torn ACL, which raises questions about the team’s short-term direction. How the Chiefs manage their cap situation while rebuilding around Mahomes will be one of the offseason’s biggest storylines.

8. New York Jets ($74.1M)

The Jets have not had a winning season since 2015, but their significant cap space offers hope.

While one offseason won’t fix everything, smart investments in free agency could begin laying the groundwork for a competitive roster in the coming years.

9. Las Vegas Raiders ($85.7M)

The Raiders face a complicated situation involving star edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who has reportedly expressed interest in leaving the team.

If Las Vegas resolves that issue, the franchise could aggressively use its $85 million in cap space to reshape the roster.

10. Atlanta Falcons ($8.9M)

Atlanta continues to hover around mediocrity, finishing between seven and eight wins for five consecutive seasons.

The team enters free agency with multiple uncertainties, including the expected release of Kirk Cousins, quarterback Michael Penix recovering from a torn ACL, and legal issues surrounding pass rusher James Pearce.

Teams Ranked 11–32 by Free Agency Interest

While the following teams may not dominate headlines, each still has roster decisions that could influence the 2026 NFL season:

  1. Seattle Seahawks ($60.7M)
  2. New England Patriots ($35.3M)
  3. Cincinnati Bengals ($47.5M)
  4. Washington Commanders ($86.1M)
  5. New York Giants ($13.7M)
  6. Minnesota Vikings (-$44.4M)
  7. Cleveland Browns (-$24.6M)
  8. Pittsburgh Steelers ($43.9M)
  9. Arizona Cardinals ($38.8M)
  10. Chicago Bears ($1.4M)
  11. Indianapolis Colts (-$4M)
  12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($11.3M)
  13. New Orleans Saints (-$44M)
  14. Houston Texans (-$13.8M)
  15. San Francisco 49ers ($22.9M)
  16. Philadelphia Eagles ($362K)
  17. Baltimore Ravens ($20.4M)
  18. Detroit Lions (-$3.8M)
  19. Carolina Panthers ($7.6M)
  20. Jacksonville Jaguars (-$16.3M)
  21. Miami Dolphins (-$6M)
  22. Green Bay Packers (-$6.4M)

Why the 2026 NFL Free Agency Period Could Be Wild

Several factors make the upcoming free agency period especially compelling:

  • Massive cap disparities between teams
  • Several franchises entering rebuild mode
  • Superstar contract restructures likely across the league
  • Injury recoveries impacting roster decisions

Teams like the Titans, Chargers, Raiders, and Commanders have enormous financial flexibility, while contenders such as the Rams and Broncos could be just a few additions away from a deep playoff run.

As free agency begins, the moves made during this critical window could reshape the competitive balance of the NFL heading into the 2026 season.
