Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time in Sunday’s 2026 World Cup final to claim its second men’s title.
Following a tense and scoreless 90 minutes in New Jersey, Ferran Torres finally broke the deadlock in extra time with a thunderous strike, giving Spain a lead it would not relinquish. Argentina was reduced to 10 men when Enzo Fernandez was shown a second yellow card after a tackle on Pau Cubarsi in the 93rd minute.
Spain is the first nation to hold the men’s and women’s World Cup crowns at the same time.
