LeBron James’ playmaking capabilities will be front and center on the Philadelphia 76ers.
Philadelphia intends to deploy James at point guard for a significant amount of time on offense next season, ESPN’s Shams Charania reports
The move would allow the 41-year-old to serve as the primary facilitator on a starting lineup that will likely feature three other talented scoring options on the wing in Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Jaylen Brown. It could also create a formidable two-man game with James and former MVP center Joel Embiid.
The 6-foot-9 James last played the point full-time during the 2019-20 campaign for the Los Angeles Lakers, leading the franchise to its first NBA championship in a decade. James posted an NBA-best 10.2 assists per game during the regular season that year – the only season he’s led the league or averaged double-digits in assists in his 23-year career.
