Anthony Davis and the Washington Wizards won’t have any meaningful talks about a potential contract extension until after the 2026-27 season begins, sources told The Athletic’s Josh Robbins.
Davis is eligible to sign an extension as of Thursday and has two years remaining on his current deal, including a $62.8-million player option for 2027-28.
The Wizards can offer the 10-time All-Star up to $275 million over four years, Robbins added. Washington already inked Trae Young to a four-year, $212-million contract after he declined his $49-million player option for the 2026-27 campaign.
Washington acquired Davis from the Dallas Mavericks in a nine-player, three-team trade last February. The 6-foot-10 big man has yet to make an appearance for his new club after suffering ligament damage in his left hand during a matchup against the Utah Jazz in January.
