San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was activated off the physically unable to perform list Sunday and returned to practice for the first time since suffering a torn Achilles in January.
Kittle has been adamant about suiting up in Week 1, when the 49ers face the Los Angeles Rams in Australia. While the contest is slated for Sept. 10, the team is expected to travel Sept. 2.
The 32-year-old has hit every benchmark of his rehab process, and coming off the PUP list sets him up to return to game action within the first four weeks of the season.
