Ja’Marr Chase gave the Cincinnati Bengals an injury scare during practice on Aug. 25 when he limped off the field holding his knee after suffering a minor hyperextension.
Chase was able to walk off under his own power, did not require a cart and was later seen stretching and walking without assistance. He subsequently told ESPN 1530 Cincinnati that he was “feeling good” and described the injury as “nothing too crazy.”
Chase said he believed he could have continued practicing, but the Bengals held him out for the remainder of the session as a precaution.
The apparent good news is significant for Cincinnati, as Chase remains one of the NFL’s premier receivers and a crucial part of the Bengals’ offense alongside quarterback Joe Burrow. If Chase were to miss time, Tee Higgins would become Cincinnati’s primary receiving option, followed by Andrei Iosivas and the rest of the Bengals’ receiving corps.
Bottom line: Chase suffered a minor knee hyperextension, but his comments and ability to walk normally afterward suggest the injury is not considered serious at this point.
