On Monday, the Philadelphia Phillies traded outfielder Tommy Pham to the Chicago White Sox, ending his minor-league stint with the organization before he ever appeared in a major-league game for Philadelphia.
The trade was reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Pham, 38, signed with the Phillies in late June, at a time when the club was looking for more right-handed hitting outfield depth. The fit made sense then. The Phillies needed coverage against left-handed pitching, and Pham brought a long track record of competitive at-bats and experience in several roles.
