There will be postseason baseball in San Diego once again, as the Padres clinched their third straight playoff berth and fifth in the last seven seasons after their 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
It’s the first time in franchise history that the Padres have reached the playoffs in three consecutive seasons.
San Diego is still locked in a battle for wild-card seeding with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies. Right now, the Padres hold the NL’s No. 4 seed and would host the Cubs – who clinched earlier Thursday – in the best-of-three wild-card series at Petco Park.
