Atlanta Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that quarterback Michael Penix Jr. should start Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears “as long as everything goes accordingly,” according to team reporter Tori McElhaney.
Penix suffered a rib injury late in Atlanta’s Week 5 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and had to exit the game.
If Penix can’t play versus Chicago, Tua Tagovailoa would be expected to start in his place.
The Falcons are 2-1 with Penix as their starting quarterback this year. He missed the first two games of the season – both of which resulted in losses – while recovering from an ACL procedure that he underwent last November.
