The San Diego Padres bolstered their rotation by grabbing starter Casey Mize from the Detroit Tigers in a last-second trade before the deadline, sources told Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
San Diego will receive Mize and minor-league infielder Gage Workman from Detroit in exchange for left-handers Kash Mayfield and Jackson Wolf, reports Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Mize joins a revamped Padres rotation that also includes Robbie Ray, whom San Diego acquired from the San Francisco Giants earlier Monday.
