Damian Knyba upset Andy Ruiz by unanimous decision (117-110, 114-113, 114-113) in their heavyweight main event on Friday night at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The fight headlined the third edition of DAZN and TNT’s “The Fight” series.
Two judges had Knyba just a one-point winner over Ruiz, but that was not an accurate reflection of the fight. The 117-110 scorecard was far closer to the truth.
Ruiz (35-3-1, 22 KOs) , who held boxing’s unified heavyweight titles in 2019, looked every bit a 36-year-old fighter who hadn’t laced up the gloves in two years.
