The San Diego Padres agreed to a four-year, $55-million contract with free-agent right-hander Nick Pivetta, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The agreement, pending a physical, includes opt-outs after the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Pivetta’s deal is heavily back-loaded, as he’ll earn a base salary of $1 million in 2025, along with a $3-million signing bonus, according to Passan. After that, he’ll reportedly earn $19 million in 2026, $14 million in ’27, and $18 million in ’28.
