J.J. McCarthy isn’t guaranteed to be the Minnesota Vikings’ starting quarterback next season, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
The Vikings plan to look at established quarterback options through free agency or a trade this offseason, sources told Russini. But Minnesota isn’t planning on moving on from McCarthy even if it adds a veteran to challenge him.
McCarthy has been plagued by injuries and inconsistent play in his first season as the full-time starter. The No. 10 overall pick from 2024 has missed seven games this season due to various ailments, including an ankle sprain, fractured throwing hand, and a concussion.
