MLS players approve restart plan for 2020 season, avoid lockout after tense negotiations


Major League Soccer has avoided a lockout after the league and Players Association came to terms on various issues on Wednesday, including economic concessions for the 2020 season, specifics for an Orlando tournament and changes to the CBA, among other items.

With the Players Association and league locked in intense discussions, players around the league decided to skip voluntary training on Monday and Tuesday as negotiations continued. The players union officially approved the return-to-play plan on Wednesday morning.
