Before we begin our main event, big news on Sunday night was announced that Cam Newton has signed a deal with the Patriots worth one year worth of this up to $8 million. And join us to flesh this out Justin Reilly all the way from Central Mississippi. Welcome to the sports guys.

Justin Riley
Hey, glad to be here but I’m wondering why we’re talking about an Auburn Alabama podcast.

Santiago Leon
Yes, I understand. I know Cam Newton has. It’s a little bit of when you think of them. It’s not good for a Bama guy But anyways, Just kidding, I’m just kidding. I know um, this is pretty interesting news a lot of those surprises like the biggest news and football for a while maybe since the draft. How significant is this is this landscape is going to change a little bit for the Patriots and for the AFC East.

Tarrant Lynch
Definitely changes things for their pet for the Patriots. I mean, they really don’t have any answers a quarterback the greatest of all time perceivably just left to go to Tampa Bay and they’re looking at Jared still him taking the reins. Nothing is yours stood them but you know, he hasn’t played on a major stage yet. But Cam Newton is a formerly MVP and to be honest with you, I saw this common I felt like it was the best fit for everybody involved. He comes into an already established system has some good backs, good receivers, they’re getting better. But he’s also playing going to be playing with Bill Bella check. If If cam was able to stay healthy, there’s gonna be a pretty interesting marriage and definitely puts the Patriots on the forefront as as challengers for the AFC crown.

Santiago Leon
Yeah something that Bill Belichick has definitely made these type of moves before is common automatic starter if he’s healthy

Justin Riley
you got to think so if he’s healthy then he’s one of the best in the league. He can’t help but start them.

Santiago Leon
Yeah, that’s this kind of puts a damper on stedham another Auburn a another former Auburn player I thought he was gonna start day one looks like that might be in the pending mode.

Justin Riley
We’ll see don’t look at it necessarily as a negative it’s an opportunity for him to grow and mature some more and be ready at the right time. This may not have been the right time for him. So he got looked at as a positive.

Santiago Leon
Well, definitely things are are stirring up in the AFC East and of course in the AFC so we’ll see how things develop him unions only about his early 30s so definitely have some gas left in the tank. Anyways, Justin Riley, tell us about our special guests for tonight.

Justin Riley
Okay, before I do that though, I gotta remind everybody about the fine folks at ramaa jammas. Hey, if you’re looking for a way to get going in the morning because I know I am. There is no better way than to go to Rama jammas for one the best breakfast you ever have. And then also to you get to have a right beside Bryant Denny stadium. So that winning combination, so definitely go check them out if you’re in town if you’re out of town, drive over you needed anyway. All right. Without further ado, I’m going to bring to you a three time sec West champion, the 99 two sec champion, the 1992 National Champion. He had 859 career rushing yards as a fullback five touchdowns518 career receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is arguably One of the most dominant player to ever play this whole back. And that’s Alabama legend Taryn Lynch.

Tarrant Lynch
How’s it going, guys? Hey, man, what’s going on? Glad to have you.

Santiago Leon
Glad to be here. Taryn Lynch, another Alabama foreign player, a legend. Alabama legend tells Taryn, what have you been up to? these days? They’re like the whole pandemic.

Tarrant Lynch
Oh, just taking these trying to be careful trying to protect myself from getting involved in catching COVID-19 and COVID-19. And also watch out for my family and friends. That’s about it. That’s all we can do.

Justin Riley
Is it slowed down work for you at all? Are you pretty much doing all right with that?

Tarrant Lynch
Oh, it hasn’t slowed down in it for us here at work. Ministry of business. So people go and eat steel so we’re what they call essential.

Justin Riley
Oh, good deal.

Santiago Leon
So obviously, this show is like we’ve been interviewing these players, former players and coaches these past couple weeks, I’ve taken to a journey of how they started and how their career has expanded throughout the years. Tara, tell me, how did you start playing football?

Tarrant Lynch
I started at a young age about six years old and footballs rugby around town. We didn’t play football today and you pretty much ridicule and talk about jokes and everything. So I started around six years old and went from there. What kind of seems like town Creek was the football capital of the world? Mainly Hazelwood high school. I mean, you’re famous for producing Alabama alumni like yourself, your cousin Antonio lango, the good family, all of them.

Justin Riley
And Talia Madden. So what was Hazelwood able to do, I guess to produce a great formula for developing athletes and getting Ready, good to go to the next level?

Tarrant Lynch
Well at Hayes like I said, we took football where we took all sports seriously. 365 days out of the year, we were doing some of the rewards and in the house, playing video games or anything like that was he’s out running, playing basketball. Even Nicole was out playing basketball, playing backyard football. Even on Sunday, we play football at the football field. So we take it very seriously. We didn’t take any time off to do anything. So like I said, forensics five days out of year, playing some type of sports

Santiago Leon
team was proactive, how was your basketball skills?

Tarrant Lynch
I was pretty good. To me back then I consider myself more a better basketball player than I was a football player. But with my size and everything. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get a division one scholarship so I just stopped for football. Now here’s something a lot of people may not know. I gotta bring it up. You actually throw up as an Auburn fan. While you’re being recruited, you actually only visited two places. Auburn, Alabama, I think you said mainly because of basketball. So what actually sold you on Alabama? I think it was once I made my visit there, it was a felt like home. I know a lot of guys down there, you know, with his clad pier and all these brothers down there, I knew them and you know, Antonio was going down. He was going down and as well, I just felt like home and that visit I made down there. There’s just so many that for me.

Santiago Leon
How was the recruiting process? Were there a lot of schools approaching you? Where you kind of look at another school possibly. How was that recruiting process?

Tarrant Lynch
Oh, it was it was it wasn’t that bad. Like I said, with you know, a lot of players that had played at Hazel going Alabama, you really didn’t have a lot of schools coming at you because of you know, they sort of figured that, you know, since you got relatives and People don’t go on Alabama that they thought pretty much thought that we were we were all automatically going down there itself but you know all in Tennessee and Alabama It was pretty much coming out as hard. And you know, I looked at all of them, you know but like I said once I made a visit on Alabama that did it for me.

Santiago Leon
Who was your second choice? Who was the close one that if Alabama didn’t come through? Who Who would you have gone with?

Tarrant Lynch
I was definitely hit the open. Definitely dog. Coach scenario. I know never great once I actually, once I made my commitment to Alabama, within less than an hour. Coach Harrington code blatantly from all over without school. talking to them, asked me why would I you know, will quit determining me What made my decision on going down there to Alabama. So, you know, they was real serious about recruiting me.

Justin Riley
You know, I really enjoy talking to players who had the blessing of being coached by the great Gene Stallings. Can you tell us a little bit about what it meant to fight for Coach Stallings and then for the more younger audience, how would you compare him to Nick Saban?

Tarrant Lynch
cost dollars uh, he was cost on was a he was a fair guy, real fair guy. He he knew how to talk to you more like a father figure out there. He took everything seriously. He didn’t you know, you came out there you didn’t practice Are you get in getting your book, which you know, I respect him for that issue. And he was a great guy. He motivated you. But at the same time, you know what you did wrong, what you need to do and what you need to change, to make yourself better. He pushed you mean if he knew you were lacking or anything, even in the classroom or at home, with parents and things like that. He would always ask, you know, if something was going on, he was carrying God. But at the same time he was you know, he was He was I was serious and you know, I was wanting to win. But if he wasn’t getting 110% then he wasn’t gonna play

Santiago Leon
Terran What was your most memorable game while playing in Alabama?

Tarrant Lynch
My most memorable game was uh, it had to be the Tennessee game my senior year. That game right there. Funny story about that game right there. Are they a Friday before we leave we normally on Fridays going up to or replaying it. I thought that plane was gonna leave at 1130 but it left at 11. So by time I got to where are we supposed to load up and everything. The plane was taken off. And that was a bad feeling right there. So I end up riding with coaches that was out recruiting that night, flying with them later at night I made about 10 3011 o’clock. So that morning we had a meeting in breakfast and everything you Never say anything you said over that cost honestly over that I can tell you looking at because made me feel about an inch big so you never called me over I just got up went over there and sat down and told him to apologize and everything and man he gave me a new one and you know that that right there told me you know I had to you know make up for everything good idea. So I want to probably one of the better games out

Santiago Leon
sports guys exclusive just it’s funny how we hear a lot of Tennessee bring up in the past couple weeks. It’s quite interesting,

Tarrant Lynch
isn’t it? Yeah, seems to be a common thing. I do want to kind of hit on something before I really go more of football per se. You know, we had George Teague on last month on things he talked about, which really got mine was apparently y’all had some underground wrestling league.

Santiago Leon
Hey, Terry. Are you on speakerphone?

Tarrant Lynch
Yes,

Santiago Leon
if you could put like headphones or like remove it because we’re hearing some feedback. So

Tarrant Lynch
I don’t want Have any headphones anything with me? I sure don’t have anything with me. Okay,

Santiago Leon
I mean, if you can’t use your phone that’s fine. We’ll just have to work with it but yeah, just want to let you know. Okay,

Justin Riley
sorry about that. No I was saying is we were talking to George t last month and he made us aware of something that we didn’t know like I said there’s this underground wrestling club apparently that was going on to dorm like you tell us a little bit about that and how did you do this listening was your record

Tarrant Lynch
um, yeah, I think it was. It depends on who George had with him if he had EC and Copeland with him then you know, of course, they they wanted but if it would just damage the DBS and summon linebackers. Of course, we run backs in Islam. We took over and then we won that battle. But just as long as john john Copeland here, curry I think we all do.

Justin Riley
So the job board agenda, I guess, gave themselves the names x and smash that you have a name to

Tarrant Lynch
know we did during that time, right that difference was uh you know was was more was more big time and in office was a difference that year man was was awesome. We had several American guys on that team that no that made all American you didn’t win the league and play several years there so that defense was was awesome. So you know like they they deserve it right on sale, whatever you want to.

Santiago Leon
And back in 92 you guys became sec champions. Can you tell us that experience and how they feel?

Tarrant Lynch
I feel so great. Like I said, we have a bunch of guys on that team that was amazing that came through fours, offensive and defensive because we had two bookends with Korean Copeland. We had deal Derrick old. TJ Toma, Justin, of course, Antonio Langham fans we had, you know, Tom Prince, J bar. We had a lot of guys You’re right. I don’t think, to me still to this day. I don’t think there’s been a Alabama team is better than the one we had in 92.

Santiago Leon
Who was the best player that you played with? And also who was the best player that you played against?

Tarrant Lynch
A best player that I play with? I would have to say it made it what it had to be my high school classmate, and teammate Antonio man, a guy was awesome. those last three games of 90 to 92 he actually pretty much one knows game by itself with a block punt interception. And that answers against floor. He did it all for us. best player played against um, I would probably have to say Well, I’d say black check that defense that whole defense we played in it.Man. Those guys, they were they were they were That was tough team that you’re right. Gotta be that whole squad difference. man could have played in the NFL.

Santiago Leon
Wow.

Justin Riley
They pretty much did

Santiago Leon
said it again. Sports cast a exclusive

Justin Riley
it’s known to everybody man that defense with everybody I think wound up in the NFL and for a pretty good length amount of time so

Tarrant Lynch
yeah, it was no secret. Yeah and I think they had an office allow me to play for I think wasn’t to the size for a lot for a while Willie roll, man. Yes, he had our defense man on skates is pushing them 1015 yards back. And he was doing Oh,

Justin Riley
oh, definitely. You know, another defense got a lot of you know, publicity, but I won’t stick with the offense because that’s what you were doing. You know, you came to Alabama in 1990. And the backfield was loaded position. And it seems like Alabama’s always has the best at that position, but the fallback position as well. Why is it that that that position has always been so important to the Alabama formula? And would you say you compare yourself to in the Saban era?

Tarrant Lynch
Ah well would in the Saban era? I really I would it’s hard to say because this is really the fallback position wasn’t utilized the way we were utilizing it back then. Compared to now as I think they call it what maybe thanks Ah, back now, but we played it was meant to say was something might they might as well have just thrown a number seven or six numbers, but we did a lot of blocking compared to run it. It was for me, it was a tough transition because I came in as a running back. tailback and I made that right decision in 19 9092. So, you know, it was a tough transition, but I made it and I mean, as compared to the guys that you know, during saving, they did a whole lot more running and a whole lot more catching the ball than denied. When I was there, but you know fullbacks with it was cost saving, you know they gotta like it’s a whole lot more touches than we did. We’ll speak on that transition you know you were able to play with Martin Houston but briefly more importantly with NFL all pro Kevin Turner, what did that mean to you and how did it help your growth of that position? Oh man, it was it was a great both. Katie and Mark helped me out a whole lot Katie, you talking about a man that was a man right there he could. He could run block catch and do it all he he would if you asked him you know show you how to do anything he bought be more than happy to show you. He was just a great all around God. Just not a you know a great player but as a great friend. He was a he was just a great player. And oh Martin Houston. He was a great thing too. He know he shared a lot of these secrets and not a lot of talent and stuff. He showed me a lot of the ropes and stuff to also create tourney. Craig Harris Hold on to

Santiago Leon
your teammates with current coach, Clemson. Coach Sweeney. How was he back then? And did you ever see him being a coach?

Tarrant Lynch
To me, I never I never pictured him being his coach. He was. He was like the rest of us. He laughed joked around. He went out there and he gave 100% every play, but devil man, he was huge. He was a great smart guy. He, you know, like I say he gave 100% and you know, if you needed anything from him, he you know, he gives you his shirt off his back. Those guys young principals received everything. You know, there was great, thank God that you they do go out and do what they supposed to catch in blocking and doing whatever they had to but dapple as far as seeing him as a head coach. I never thought of that. But I’m glad that you know, he went into that profession. He’s doing a great job. And can you see him coaching for Alabama? Honestly, I don’t, I don’t I don’t see why he would mean he’s made that Legacy up there where he’s at now. He’s won national championships. He’s gotten some started really down and Clemson that hadn’t been started and while there so I don’t see him coming back. I mean, me personally, if I was him I wouldn’t, because like I said, he’s got a good thing going there.

Santiago Leon
Justin said the same thing a couple days ago to me. Absolutely.

Tarrant Lynch
Yeah, absolutely. I’ve said it all along when I had this conversation countless amount of times. I’m sure you do, too. But the thing is, like you just said he already has his own legacy started at Clemson. So why would he want to go back to Alabama and then live in a shadow of Nicki Davis? He already has his own shadow caster clumps. Yes, that’s what I’m saying. Exactly.

Santiago Leon
Unless he wins like 11 championships in Alabama.

Justin Riley
I won’t go back to your senior sleep. And not tonight for your fifth year due to medical hardship. You’re like the team captain, and you’re ready. To get that bitter taste of the 993 season out of your mouth, what personal goals do you set for yourself regarding that season?

Tarrant Lynch
Well, that season I came into this season about about 44 to five pounds last year before I hadn’t got probably bigger than I’ve ever been before. So I came in about 40 pounds lighter. I wanted to be a better leader than being you know, previous year. Well really want to win a championship and have to have the team as much as I can be more focused, dedicated. Want to go out on top my senior year with this being my last year

Santiago Leon
how would you rate yourself your senior year? I mean, did you think that you could have gotten NFL like one year prior or do you think you needed that seniors to put the icing on the cake?

Tarrant Lynch
I needed that scene here. Because, you know a band full of back full bags not known come out early. A junior senior No. We’re going A few more things and give us your self in better shape.

Santiago Leon
How was your health in

Tarrant Lynch
the afternoon? Like I said, I lost all my weight and I was I was healthy. I didn’t have any issues at all. No, maybe a couple of sprained ankles early on in the year but other than that, I was fine.

Justin Riley
I definitely had to agree that 99 four is probably your best season. I felt like you play with incredible fire and tenacity. Literally every snap and it’s lucky we’re playing it like it was your your absolute last and you said 25 was your best game but you did that against Auburn as well as Georgia? I’m sure yes. Other team they probably would. Same thing. Yeah, although I didn’t play for a national championship didn’t get a chance to play in the Citrus Bowl against Ohio State. We defeated on point four to seven. You know, it sure did feel like a national championship game because both teams are loaded with NFL talent. And it’s still one of the best games I’ve ever seen how big was that Citrus Bowl game for us to close out your career?

Tarrant Lynch
Oh, grew up, you know, with us going up against a Heisman Trophy winning at George it was Ruby because they had a quarterback has pretty good receivers they’re pretty good. But you know, we we had a job doing when we got down now we practice the way we suppose practice and you were supposed to do it. And when I didn’t win the game, but it was a repeat. We went and now we’re playing for a national championship.

Santiago Leon
Just Are you ready? Go to the NFL or you have two more Alabama questions.

Justin Riley
I’m ready to jump to the next level.

Santiago Leon
Okay. So Taryn, tell me your NFL scout experience? What were they telling you before the draft and how was the process during the draft?

Tarrant Lynch
Oh, no, no telling me that, you know, I you know, I need to get stronger. Just work on my speed and everything. And, you know, other than that, that you know, your time is pretty good. Like I said, during that time when, when I was finishing up, we really didn’t have Have any big time fullbacks that was coming out and they were really wasn’t drafting pool backs you know real high but you know I I practice all and do everything that they you know asked me to do and went down to the combine combine and thought I’d be pretty good and then in and out with some of my M and I’m still kind of question to this day why you went on draft I still think that you are our best fullback in the country and now the fullback position doesn’t often get a whole lot lower But still, you know you brought more to the table than the typical fullback Yes, you could run through people you could block. You could also catch a ball and you could definitely make people miss man there are plenty of times where I saw you Break Ankles.

Justin Riley
There has always been a mystery to me. But of course you know that’s not how it panned out. I want to talk about your time with Tony Nathan. He was in a Assistant Coach with mine at the time and for those who are not familiar ghosted Woodlawn because you need to be familiar with this guy but he was a former Alabama grade like worked with him and how do you help you transition to the NFL level?

Tarrant Lynch
hE hE with him you know being from Alabama he was a dumb guy you know we we smoked weed we spoke very little about you know, Alabama you know guy said like I said he had a job do down there and everything now there’s like a job. He you know, taught me some of the you know some of the ins and outs of what I need to do and how I need to do it. But mostly like I say, if you have gotten to that level, right there you should have you should have got a great coach and everything should know your job and your thing you should and they shouldn’t have known that he should have to you have this place and everything and all that but techniques and everything should know that by the time you get up there

Santiago Leon
So how long were you with the dolphins?

Tarrant Lynch
I would double down with two preseason they’ll which was my fault I think what cuz I came we were like sometime in July we could have went home and stayed and worked out and I came home and was playing basketball and stay in shape and broke my foot so when back and stay loose during a time and they need full backs because a lot of the guys are ahead keep buyers here towards me up so they bring guys in defense but only a fullback so they need is more like a bring so they released me and after that, as my mom got diagnosed with breast cancer I really you know a lot of us focus on it and didn’t really weren’t ready to go back into it. Before we go into this next, this next topic, which you know is about your mother, first of all, let’s say happy birthday to her heaven. Well, I was it was her birthday today so I can definitely say that Respect for her and like you said, unfortunately she passed away in 96 How did your mother’s passing affect you once that happened? A rough thing. It was real rough. Just not on me. But I had a younger brother and sister with real rough also me being dailies. I had to, you know, look out, put him associ Cayman was living with me and my brother. He was he was an adult. So he he stayed on stay by myself. So, but he didn’t steal as he had to watch it with him too. But it was it was rough. I mean, your mother? Oh, that’s that’s rough. Right.

Santiago Leon
Was there any other opportunity for you to get back into the NFL?

Tarrant Lynch
Yes, it was, like I said, I just just lost that feeling about going back I just, you just wasn’t me anymore. And you know, when you get to that, right, there’s no need of wasting their time or your time trying to get back into something that you know, you don’t have a feeling for anymore.

Justin Riley
So it’s kind of sticking with that how do you feel that God brought you on situation? What do you think that he taught you had difficulty?

Tarrant Lynch
Oh, he he called me today made me that that right there you know it made no last call. He says you know, you know put more on your plate and you know you can even care you can handle but you know, he bought me through a whole lot stronger, a whole lot more focus, claim a whole lot wiser and know that you know, you can’t take anything for granted. You don’t have visiting, you know, your home is in heaven. So we just have visiting for a while. So you just got to make the best of it while you’re here. Just protect her. And you know, look out for your family, raise your kids and do best you can.

Santiago Leon
God brought you out of that and what did he teach you with? That?

Tarrant Lynch
He taught me that, you know, life goes on. Just kind of you know, like I said You know, you’re not going to be here forever but I feel like you know she’s she’s in a better place now and he’s she’s refeel and you know, it made me more focused more stronger and made me a better person made me the person I am today which you know, I try to treat everybody the same and you know as I want to be treated if I happen to buy out, do anything I can to them but God definitely, you know, bought me through it. I mean, if he can bring me food and bring him back, you just gotta you know, stay on the you know, the righteous path and do as your toe, man. I use spin a whole lot. I can just spoke about you for life into others, making sure they were being taken care of which is definitely admirable, but I got asked, you know, who was pouring life into you? Who was really investing in you to make sure you were gonna make up my mind at the time. My oldest daughter, you know, you know, I, you know, I have my kids. I do anything for my kid, but I time I had my older daughter born and, you know, I want you know, the best for her. And you know, that that motivated me a whole lot, which is, you know, motivate anybody you know with key is that you know you want the best for them and you don’t want them to really go through the same thing that you went through, you know, you want a better life.

Santiago Leon
What was the most important thing your mother? Well, your mother has taught you

Tarrant Lynch
a nice he always told me know me speaking to someone, you know, you’re always looking good. And I know beyonds. You know, don’t let anybody you know be disrespectful to you always. You know, don’t hold your tongue. If you got something to say ask as a closed mouth don’t get fed me. You can’t just sit back in and not not know what’s going on and not ask any questions. Always ask questions and always give 110% And whatever you do, if you’re not going to give 110% don’t do well

Santiago Leon
I needed that today. By the way, I actually had a I like one of these projects that I was proposed to do. I couldn’t do it because I knew I cannot give it 110% Thanks for the word

Tarrant Lynch
more than welcome.

Justin Riley
And definitely what she just said echoed on every phase of your playing career, there is no question that what your mother tells you definitely translated Well, on the football I mentioned earlier, you know, every single snap every block, every, every every cash, you’re playing like it was your last play, and you’re gonna make the best play. That definitely sends so much positivity and a great testimony for others who are watching you. What message do you have through for others who are maybe going through the same thing right now that she went through with your mother’s passing,

Tarrant Lynch
just disk space chrome remember But you’re doing everything because Mother You got you know especially you got kids you’re doing it for your kids because you gotta you gotta pee live like I said God no put more you know you can bear just keep focused and you know you keep focused and do what you’re supposed to God will make everything all right

Santiago Leon
before we enter into rapid fire Justin which is getting ready for what would you tell a player coming into Alabama as first season? What advice would you give them?

Tarrant Lynch
Um come in focus. With coast same noun everybody knows the mentality as just get down and do what you’re supposed to be you’re supposed to go to classes, study fam study plays, do all that do what you’re supposed to. If you do all the things you’re supposed to, then you’re VRI

Justin Riley
we ready for some rapid fire cool

Santiago Leon
Questions. Let’s do it. I’m gonna choose a random one. So go ahead, Justin. I first question I

Justin Riley
have and I was thinking about this other day, of course, as we know so much has changed on both sides of the ball ball. You know, high powered offenses are taking the fill these days. Taryn, what would your career look like and this type of offense especially in Alabama’s offense

Tarrant Lynch
I probably probably would have looked a whole lot better off as they’re running now because they utilize a lot of the players pretty much all the players out there who will back ah back in order to utilize a lot of and I think that will help me out a whole lot out. I gotta say I’m doing co Stalin’s arrow. tool bags with mainly the blocker we very rarely random ball cut ball but in this when in office, they have no it have been. They will you will ask me a whole lot.

Santiago Leon
How much can you bench

Tarrant Lynch
Now or then?

Santiago Leon
then

Tarrant Lynch
I would say around three to 539 How about now? I will news how you do it now. Shoulder can get pretty weak so I’d say probably around two

Justin Riley
as long as it’s moving man I saw accounts

Tarrant Lynch
as right Oh, damn now I know he’s made being so strong I got like a joking joke with the guys I hear now. if if if I got used my strength or something like that and you see me run you better be running with Nick on some behind.

Justin Riley
I say that same exact thing, man. I gotta ask this because I was joking with George the other day about it.

Justin Riley
Who won the head to head battles between you and yours to practice?

Tarrant Lynch
Ah I would have Say like I like outside say Georgia you got a lot of times because a lot of times on defense those guys you know they they stuck together with each other you could be running the ball downfield you’re looking at one player and then and then George t no come on no one and take you out. But the time that I did see George, he tell you what, what a thing you’d like to hear. But you know like I said, you know, everyone

Santiago Leon
which for Auburn I know that you’re not an Auburn fan but we’re we’re would you put Cam Newton and Bo Jackson tear

Tarrant Lynch
a night is hard because you know, not many people can be put up in that Bo Jackson here. Bo Jackson was a heck of a player can was a good player. But you know, Bo Jackson is he’s amazing.

Santiago Leon
He’s a force to be reckoned with, which he played while injured and also yourself. So you know, you have that same type of mentality. Just never give up like you tore your ACL. And one of those games against Vanderbilt. And then Bo Jackson and the NFL playing with the Raiders. He was happy he kept playing. So yeah, you guys have seen some similarities there.

Tarrant Lynch
Yeah, he’s like a robot man. He was something like video ad and they say, oops, it was just a written a regular player. Some like their power towards the hip. I’m stuck on a scheme or broke scheme. So it was a devastating injury that he had

Justin Riley
speaking that, how in the world were you able to still play after tearing your ACL up? You?

Tarrant Lynch
Me when I did it, you know, I felt it. But like I said, as long as I was running and kept warm, kept it loose. It wasn’t bothering but as soon as game was over, and I was sitting around, that’s when it really spoiled up and the next day, that’s when I went over to the training room and they looked at in this one a term that it was a torn ACL.

Santiago Leon
How was a medical person back then. Was it really good or it’s not what it is today?

Tarrant Lynch
I was nice nowhere near what it was what or yesterday? I think now back then you have a torn ACL he was out for I know a whole year maybe a little more now. He’s guys haven’t served out what 667 months maybe less than come back plan. So it’s totally different.

Santiago Leon
I want one more. One more. So the final whistle of the game well

Justin Riley
goes out saying I’m a big fan of the players from your era Tanner. Because your team that era it made me an Alabama fan. So you know I’m gonna have more praise and more Sonic repeat with you guys. So bring up another question. Of course you play with some great running backs during your day at Alabama or certain mistakes there lastic and Sherman Williams Which one of those bags which you compare it to nausea Harris

Tarrant Lynch
um

Justin Riley
or is there a comparison

Santiago Leon
good question

Tarrant Lynch
in doing it yep got Naji hairs he’s more of a he’s a bigger back he do do more jumping in and all that stuff guys we had Lassie Saran and terminology predict pretty much cut and raspy and more speed to me then Nagios does and they don’t do people been doing a lot of jumping over places back then but I really don’t see any comparison to it from you know the previous guys that we had that play with but you know the guys they they were great bunch of backs are and lastly chrisann has an instrument so I to me honestly I haven’t played with it but to me I see those guys being a better runner stronger running faster guy

Santiago Leon
right now Geez. We’re going before a poll questions what Who is your favorite Alabama player from last season that you really liked?

Tarrant Lynch
from last season

Tarrant Lynch
I’ll have to say, Jared dude, he’s a weird dude he’s a he was a heck of a player with several players on that team player. But you know he’s a win win even when you know somebody else was was getting out of glory and shining it on the field. He was still out there doing his job blocking and doing everything for them while they know they got the glory home, but he never said anything deal he’s supposed to do. And I expect God to do that. Yeah, that’s

Justin Riley
what I really liked about this past group was so many players were so were selfless, you know, they, they were more concerned about getting the job done like you said, and and they celebrated when other people did well, so it was never about me. Number one is always about team and it was very evident and that is so refreshing, especially in this day and age.

Tarrant Lynch
Yes, it is.

Santiago Leon
Just one Interpol question. But this has to be a quick 32nd last question.

Justin Riley
Okay. I’m on the clock. Well, Taryn, speaking of Alabama, who was it, I guess that you looked up to who was a mentor of yours coming into Alabama and helping you transition and helping you become, you know, a star as you were,

Tarrant Lynch
um, I would have to say during a time right there had to be I would say, clad the young guys, I mean, he was an excellent guy, he, he told me the ins and outs, the things that I need to do, and how I need to do when I got down in a show morale show all the classes and everything. And he was just excellent guy. He motivated me, you know, even when I was down, you know, wasn’t having a good day of practice or whatever. You know, he told me to keep my head up because you know, you’re from time could you play to Hazelwood. So you know how we do it. We don’t slack or anything like that, you know, we go 100% don’t let anything Get us down. Don’t think that you know anybody’s better enough. We come from age where we suppose the added mentality we’re better than anybody else.

Santiago Leon
Tarrant Lynch, Hazelwood High School, won the Alabama legends, was it? Get into poll questions, which is on our Twitter which you have time to vote, who is the greatest Alabama fullback of all time? The choices are Taryn Lynch, Kevin Turner, the Ron MacLean or Justin Fowler. We’ll go with with Justin then then. Taryn.

Justin Riley
But I had to say this and I just say it’s because you’re here, Taryn. I honestly believe that you the best ever played a position at Alabama. Like I said, You’re the one of the main reasons I became an Alabama fan and I always loved your physicality, but also to what you’re able to do just all across the board. Run and catch the ball backfield and just make players Miss I mean, like I said earlier, brother, I hope some of those players you played against had ankle insurance, because you broke a lot.

Unknown Speaker
I think you could you

Santiago Leon
could vote for yourself if you want.

Tarrant Lynch
I got good. I’ll get right there to Kevin Turner. I mean that. Like I said he was good guy, right. That was awesome. He did a great job blocking, catching the ball running. I mean, he did it all. He was a hell of a player. But no cop does that. Sometimes I play with him. I didn’t play with him and other guys, but to me, I think Kevin Turner was a to me the best one played a position

Santiago Leon
and most of Twitter does. agree with you. They have Kevin Turner as first place 53% then Justin Fowler at 23 Taryn Lynch yourself 15.4 and Lauren McClain 7.7%.

Tarrant Lynch
Now pretty good sound about right. And a

Justin Riley
lot of time and you could lead you got 21

Santiago Leon
hours a one guy named Tim March says Johnny Davis from 74 to 77 should have been forgotten Yeah, he was a he was a heck of a player too and also major ugly TV are in the nomination Jessa did not do his homework correct or maybe there was too many

Justin Riley
there honestly that terrible I agree here they’re just honestly too many But yeah, I really can’t you really can’t vote on the best either the running back or full back position in Alabama. There’s just so many ins and I’ll go so far as to say is if you can’t say the Alabama is running back, you are fullback you, you obviously have watched football. That’s right.

Santiago Leon
No bias there. And second poll question of the day. What is your favorite vintage social media platform. The choices are MySpace, virb, Friendster, or vine. We’ll go with Tarrant

Tarrant Lynch
ah, MySpace

Santiago Leon
turn did MySpace back in the day and Justin Riley. To be honest with you, I had

Justin Riley
to go out of my space mainly because I didn’t recognize any of the others that you said. But I did actually use MySpace vine

Santiago Leon
as a popular one. Which is actually my vote. But fine is winning. Oh, my space is winning 55% violent 36 ribbon nine and Friendster at zero. So Friendster, no one’s giving them credit. They were the first that came up with the like button. So today, it’s Social Media Day. Which also means getting a lot of rap right now. So we’ll see things good social media. tyrant. Taryn, what is the best way for people to reach you? online?

Tarrant Lynch
Oh, online I’m I’m on Facebook Of course on on my name and Twitter, same as on my name. Terrell Lynch Alexander My name so that’s the best way to get in touch with him.

Santiago Leon
And Justin Riley How can people reach you? Or, or How can any Alabama player reach you to to book us? For the sports guy?

Justin Riley
I do seem to have the pipeline donor.

Santiago Leon
My question is Taron, can you get us any player from your squad to join the show?

Tarrant Lynch
I can try. Like I said, we we’ve gone our separate way since since we’ve finished but I could try and do it.

Santiago Leon
Justin, do you want pacifically name it we’ll be honest with you.

Justin Riley
I really would like to have like a little bit of a reunion man and I’d be an awesome show. Definitely love to have you guys there. Like I said, You’re the founding reason I became an Alabama fan. So I’m definitely all for that.

Santiago Leon
You can be too much, man that’s taxing for too much.

Justin Riley
You know, we can get some guys but it’s definitely a pleasure having You hear tear him as absolute blessing. And definitely want to thank you for coming on. And I definitely want to thank you for the message share today. And, you know, I’ll go back to the post that you had on Facebook a couple days ago. And you’re talking about, you know, someone needed to hear that specific message that you placed on there. That Tom, I honestly believe that God use this podcast, and your messages to help somebody or multiple people who are going through the same thing. So I just want to thank you for, you know, opening up and sharing that part of your life.

Tarrant Lynch
I have more than one weapon, as I say before, you know, just trusting God and be patient, because God will live on God’s timing. And God is he’s always on time, God.

Justin Riley
Absolutely, yeah, definitely want to have you on again. Matter of fact, on July 21, we do have Justin Fowler coming on. He actually you Thanks to all of you and looked up to you, especially since he played the same position as you and he is wearing your number. So it might be kind of cool if we kind of snuck you in there as a surprise to coincide with him if you’re up for it.

Tarrant Lynch
It sounds good. I’d be more than welcome,

Justin Riley
as well definitely appreciate that. Audience definitely want to remind you that each week is a new week with a former Alabama player next week, we are meeting with former wide receiver Matt Odell, so be looking out for that. And as far as how people can reach me on social media, you can follow me on Twitter, at Justin Riley seven. And on Instagram at Justin Riley underscore seven. I also help contribute to the sports cast both on Instagram and on Twitter. That’s at this force cast one. I’m also on Facebook on Justin Riley. You can’t find me on I’m on Terrence friend list. So pretty easy and of course

Santiago Leon
To Justin’s Twitter and Facebook, you see him weight training, lifting 500 pounds of weight is a big tournament in a couple of weeks. Right, Justin?

Justin Riley
I do have a powerlifting meet on July 18. So, getting ready for that, but um,

Santiago Leon
how can people find out more information about that tournament?

Justin Riley
Well, you can go to the USP a website or you can go to a USP, a Mississippi Facebook page and find more about that. Or you can hear me talk about how old I feel daily on Facebook.

Santiago Leon
Only 29 so he has a life left. He’s still in his prime.

Justin Riley
tearing I’ll definitely do it just to understand about that shoulder situation ever since I’m under 40 definitely haven’t filled it so you

Santiago Leon
know. Alright, anyways, you can reach us at the sports cast dotnet read the latest on a lot of MLB players dropping out you Before the season start started saying 60 games is too short. I don’t want to get injured. So they’re dropping out like flies. Justin Riley says stay on. Jim Harbaugh is in cut with john Howard. And of course Jarrod Smith is back. So the NBA is gonna be very interesting next month. And of course, like Justin said catches next Tuesday, and this Thursday we had Tyler Turner talking about college football be canceled this season. I know that Taryn and Justin does not want that happen, but it could happen

Justin Riley
very real possibility but if it’s gonna happen, you know, I still play bingo out there in the backyard.

Santiago Leon
But But I do hope it’ll be a all sec season. We think about that.

Tarrant Lynch
I think it will be. They have season I think it would have been I hope it will be hope it’d be a Alabama season. That’s what I’m hoping for.

Santiago Leon
Alabama with a sign in a quarterback right, Justin?

Justin Riley
I yeah, it’s gonna be an exciting season. I’m looking forward to it. I do believe it will be modified, probably without fans, but I think it still will go on. Worst case scenario we’ll see an SEC only schedule. But as long as we get to see the tide roll, that’s all really bad.

Santiago Leon
As right. Give us some closing words before we, um

Tarrant Lynch
I had a woman at one time speaking with you guys and just remember, take each day one day at a time and let’s be careful out there. Where I’m asking where we’re supposed to where I’m asking what get checked out for the family and the kids and everything and just be careful out there because it’s COVID-19 is real serious.

Santiago Leon
is the real deal. Justin Riley. Great show.

Justin Riley
Great show because you guys man really enjoyed it. Like I said, Taryn, let’s get you back on here again. I’ll be I’ll be looking forward to it. All right, guys. Roll Tide.

Tarrant Lynch
Roll Tide.
