Texans rookie quarterback Davis Mills will start Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers in place of an injured Tyrod Taylor, coach David Culley said on Tuesday.
Taylor injured his left hamstring in the first half in the Texans’ 31-21 Week 2 loss to the Cleveland Browns and was replaced by Mills in the second half. The Texans used their top pick, a third-round selection, on Mills in April.
In his NFL debut on Sunday, Mills completed 8 of 18 passes for 102 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception in the loss, which dropped the Texans to 1-1.
