Real Madrid have beaten Barcelona 2-1 to win this season’s first Clasico and it was David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez who did the damage as Sergio Aguero’s strike came too little too late for the hosts.
Ronald Koeman’s men started brightly in Catalonia but it only lasted as long as it took for Alaba and Real’s counterattack to rip through Barca’s thin defense to fire home a stunning opener.
Barca rallied a bit in the second half with Philippe Coutinho on the pitch but to no avail as Real made the most of seven added minutes to double their tally through Vazquez.
There was enough time for Aguero to find the back of the net to open his account with the Balugrana but it was not enough to prevent them from slipping to defeat.
Real hit top spot with that win and open up a five-point gap on their bitter rivals down in eighth as the pressure remains firmly on Koeman.
