The 49ers looked oh so smooth out of the gate on Sunday night, defying inclement weather to take a quick 7-0 lead against the Colts at home. But they couldn’t weather Indianapolis for the duration of their prime-time matchup, with Jimmy Garoppolo and Co. slipping and sliding in the rain to the tune of four turnovers. On the flip side, Carson Wentz didn’t always look pretty, but with three total touchdowns, some gritty crunch-time runs and a couple doses of help from Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman Jr., he helped the Colts secure a much-needed 30-18 victory — the team’s third win in four weeks.

Ryan had two big throws to Kyle Pitts to get Atlanta into field-goal range on the final drive, Younghoe Koo made a 36-yarder as time expired, and the Falcons beat the Miami Dolphins 30-28 on Sunday – a sixth consecutive loss for Miami, and the second in a row coming on a final-play kick.

”You have the right mindset and have courage,” Falcons coach Arthur Smith said of Ryan. ”He has it. He’s a special player. I personally think he’s been criminally underrated his if you look at his career.”

Ryan passed for 336 yards, nearly half of them – 163 – going to Pitts, his rookie tight end. The Falcons had blown a 13-point fourth-quarter lead and were trailing with 2:27 left. But Ryan and Pitts needed only 37 seconds to flip the momentum.

A 23-yard pass to Pitts opened the final drive, a 28-yarder down the sideline got Atlanta well within Koo’s range, and Ryan milked the clock down to almost nothing with Miami out of timeouts and resigned to simply hoping for a miracle miss.

Tua Tagovailoa threw for 291 yards

Panthers 3 Giants 25
Jones threw a 5-yard TD pass and made a spectacular one-handed 16-yard catch on the game’s only meaningful touchdown drive in a 25-3 win Sunday.

Bengals 41 Ravens 17
Burrow threw for a career-high 416 yards and three touchdowns, including that pivotal 82-yarder to Chase in the third quarter, and the Bengals won their AFC North showdown against the Ravens in style, pulling away in the second half for a 41-17 victory.

Chiefs 3 Titans 27
The Tennessee Titans recorded their second straight statement win on a short week, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Nashville 27-3. This matchup was decided in the first half, as Ryan Tannehill and the offense jumped out to a 27-0 lead

Mahomes was inaccurate all game long. He completed 20 of 35 passes for 206 yards, one interception and also lost a fumble. The former NFL MVP left the game early in the fourth quarter due to a head injury, but this was by far his worst performance of the season.

Jets 13 Patriots 54
The Patriots moved to 3-4 on the season and won their first home game of the year in convincing fashion over the New York Jets 54-13.

Jones recorded the first 300-yard passing game of his young career, finishing with 307 yards through the air to go along with two touchdowns. Damien Harris topped 100 yards rushing for the sixth time of his career in what was an extremely strong day for the Patriots backfield. Between Harris, J.J. Taylor, and Brandon Bolden, the backfield trio logged 218 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns.

Washington 10 Packers 24
Rodgers threw touchdown passes to three receivers and the defense stood tall in the red zone to help the Packers beat Washington 24-10 on Sunday for their sixth consecutive victory.

Rodgers withstood back trouble and went 27 of 35 for 274 yards with touchdown passes to Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Robert Tonyan.

Lions 19 Rams 28
Rodgers withstood back trouble and went 27 of 35 for 274 yards with touchdown passes to Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Robert Tonyan.

Goff passed for 268 yards and led the Lions (0-7) within striking distance of an upset before falling heartbreakingly short. Afterward, Goff chatted with his former teammates and exchanged pleasantries with coach Sean McVay, who slapped his former quarterback’s helmet after their hug.

Eagles 22 Raiders 33
Derek Carr threw for 323 yards, completing 31 of 34 pass attempts with one touchdown, and Las Vegas defeated the Eagles, 33-22.

Carr’s 91.1% completion percentage was a career best and the second-best single-game percentage in NFL history behind Drew Brees (96.7%), on a minimum of 30 attempts.

Texans 5 Cardinals 31
Cardinals are 7-0 as they beat the Texans 31-5.

Tight end Zach Ertz has been with the Cardinals for just nine days and already has the longest touchdown catch of his nine-year career, rumbling 47 yards toward the end zone to put an exclamation point on Arizona’s 31-5 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Bears 3 Bucs 38
Tom Brady wasn’t particularly sharp early on, but he never needed to be, riding three interceptions from Todd Bowles’ defense to a 38-3 victory that confirms the Bucs as one of the NFC front-runners.
