Arizona State quarterback Paul Tyson entered the NCAA transfer portal Monday. Tyson, the great grandson of legendary former Alabama head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, originally transferred from the Crimson Tide to the Sun Devils prior to the start of the 2022 season. Entering the fall, Tyson competed with quarterbacks Trenton Bourguet and Daylin McLemore in the spring, prior to former Florida quarterback Emory Jones arriving and earning the starting gig.
“It’s fantastic, honestly,” Tyson said of the competition in the spring, via SunDevilSource.com. “It keeps the competition going. Everybody’s pushing each other because we all, at the end of the day, want the best player to play and we want to go win a Pac-12 championship.”
Tyson appeared in one game this season but did not register any stats as a passer.
