Unknown Speaker
I want to know
Unknown Speaker
my last game bro. I only play once. Remember the last actually.
Marvin Constant
We beat Auburn in 98. We beat them in 99 and we beat them in 2001. So if you want to be technical,
Steve Brown
right, and another thing every time I play ncaa football and I play against Auburn we beat y’all not eight.
Marvin Constant
Justin Are you checking the line? Justin?
Justin Riley
I’m checking live see one year guys from back
Unknown Speaker

Justin Riley

Marvin Constant
I’m going on virtual background. I got two freshmen. So speaking of my time 2001 Daniel more you see my guy j Mac catching that thief Andrews out 31 seven row top. And yes, I got to Dan, you want to prove
Steve Brown
Hey, man, hold on. Hold on you You say you said he’s you said Jason one of the fastest guys you ever met? Yeah. Damn, Jason you give it up like that

Steve Brown
marva Why Why does Why is being taping like he’s scared. He already know what.
Unknown Speaker
They all know what’s coming.
Unknown Speaker
Hey, man, we just we come from humble backgrounds. Man, you know, y’all Bama people is man.
Justin Riley
I’m looking forward to to hear about more how we are but that we’re gonna get to that.
Steve Brown
Hey, adjusted
Unknown Speaker
our humble. Can you look at Rashad Johnson. We have he called me up from work.
Justin Riley
Now lazy. He’s humble. He’s got that big old penny of himself sitting right behind him too.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, so he
Unknown Speaker
balances out.
Unknown Speaker
Consistency is the key to the top.
Justin Riley
No doubt. All right, let’s go ahead and jump on in. And guys, before we get to the current team, I want to focus on your careers. First of all, tell us what made you choose your school? I’ll start with Gerard and we’ll go down the line.
Unknown Speaker
To be honest, no jokes aside, I was I was gonna go to I actually told Mike Shula, I was coming and then my mom for whatever reason on our official visit, she’d get a good vibe from Shula and the staff coach ball if y’all remember coach ball. Yeah, he was the one that recruited me I actually still talked to coach ball a lot and I disappointed him because when I left I told him I was coming and my visit was in Auburn and next weekend and coach brother Chet and all them boys. They heard my mom didn’t really get a good vibe so when we went to Auburn, they put brother chat with my mom the entire official visit and when we got an office with tub, she she just swore that was the place for me to go. And you know, I always listened to my mom. So that’s how I ended up choosing Auburn and was really the best decision for me at the end of the day.
Justin Riley
Absolutely. are shy without you What brought you to Alabama.
Unknown Speaker
Um, you know, for me it was you know, a faith move and a gut move. I didn’t have any major offers coming out of school, West Alabama, una and the Citadel military regiment. It was only you know, three schools that offered me scholarships and those are all partial deals. I knew a way to get to Alabama had some connections to be able to walk on. So I came on a visit unofficial I think Alabama was playing Arkansas game went into like several times that that game 2008 and I was sitting in the stands, man, I just had this just gut wrenching feeling like I can do this and I want to be here doing it. And so from there, man, I had, you know, some fortunate parents that kind of believed in my dream and sacrificed for me to chase it. So, you know, that’s how I was able to come to Alabama and be a part of, you know, the legacy that is continuing today.
Justin Riley
No doubt don’t want.
Steve Brown
So you said that, that your dad wanted to go to Alabama, right?
Unknown Speaker
Nah, nah, my dad went on a visit with me, my
Unknown Speaker
mom,
Unknown Speaker
my mom, my mom told Shula to space in his office that back in the day when George Wallace stood up and said there wouldn’t be no blacks plan and all that type of stuff like my mom come from an old school background. And so she had brought that whole conversation up to coach Shula, which you know, he didn’t have nothing to do with with that at the time but uh, you know, that’s just how she felt you know, coming from the background where we from and all that so it was just me and my mom on this on this journey my dad wasn’t really a part of the picture.
Steve Brown
So this so so since you went to Auburn this explains in the book that I read why your dad and I’m like you
Unknown Speaker
all right, being wildern
Steve Brown
El Nino
Unknown Speaker
I chose him because at the time I was one of the top running backs in the country but I came from a small area in Maryland and I wanted to prove everyone that I could play you know in the best conference in the country and you know and at the time I was you know running back to you and my position I want to be considered You know, one of the best players so I felt like you know to make my staple I needed to go to the school that was considered you know, the best for the for the running backs. And then also in the best conference in the country.
Steve Brown
Man, man, man I watched your career Arbor you were the man Yes, you you you did your thing. I was a big fan I owe a lot to you but when the hell y’all became running back you
Unknown Speaker
come on man.
Unknown Speaker
We can name him off now. brandon jacobs had to transfer you
Unknown Speaker
all right, man. Mr. lavey y’all been having the best come on? I can’t say nothing about it.
Marvin Constant
But you mean lately we’ve been having Alexander Yeah, way back now.
Unknown Speaker
Your hair you Cadillac Cutlass for
Unknown Speaker
running a young
Steve Brown
when you see it all too often with a really good reading that you know like myself you know I can rock around with me but
Unknown Speaker
the ones before me that’s what made me want to come
Steve Brown
before you that was decent was Bo Jackson who else you forgot it was all back to back to being man man. The guys that you are naming did not make a difference. The Alabama has difference makers. Let me tell you what a difference maker is a difference maker is Jason macadam, the owner brother that brought my skin to Alabama. Okay. Right. There is a difference maker. Football. pretty shaky. Jason. Thank you, man.
Unknown Speaker
I just want to play my part. You know, I was Drake before Drake. Hey,
Marvin Constant
Jason, will you remind being that they had Cadillac and all those guys on 2001 when they got Dustin 31 to seven? Will you please remind him that the quote
Unknown Speaker
was it was 31 seven. He got the Daniel martyr prove it. Yeah, we heavily favored that game. I too. I was heavily over that game.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, that same error. Let Trey Smith come in Tuscaloosa and run up and down the field on y’all too. So we’d be okay. Running back
Steve Brown
Hey bet know that day that day being up that day that Trey Smith came in and do what he did. The whole team was hot. Oh man, I know.
Marvin Constant
But you know it’s funny we got several members of the Arizona Cardinals on these calls though. Yeah, so I’m sure a lot of trash talking going on between y’all at some point.
Unknown Speaker
We had a Yeah, we definitely had our locker room trash talk but one thing you get in that league normally it’s like a conference type thing so everybody kind of rock with you. You know if we from the same conference, I think in Arizona when men Rashad was there we had all sec secondary so we kind of used to take take pride in that a little bit and only time we talked trash was when we was playing each other so I got pitches I got pitches when they got they got all been good about that I
Unknown Speaker
got you in my jersey for show one time
Marvin Constant
one j Mack was also a member of the Cardinals as well, but before you guys
Unknown Speaker
yes a little bit for that before their time. Frank Sanders was a was a receiver.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, good. Good. Do
Unknown Speaker
you know I’m saying so we used to wear you know, we were a letterman jacket when iron bowl came around. We used to talk talk crap to each other the whole week, you know, saying I ain’t putting all my gear on I know that though. I know that for sure. They
Unknown Speaker
always up on this man. We go down there.
Steve Brown
I gotta draw. So now who is the running back? I forgot his name. He was a small fella. Number one. A cool little skinny dude guys can do.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, Brad Lester.
Steve Brown
He was founded but He what? Can we agree he was ugly.
Unknown Speaker
We used to say that in the locker room.
Steve Brown
There. Nobody would want to tackle him. I I just want to get that out. Don’t tell him I said no. Don’t tell him.
Unknown Speaker
He trained nnaji and offseason believe it. Hey, did you go to him to get some training?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, tell him we say appreciate it. And they put
Marvin Constant
us that this week on y’all don’t worry. Oh
Steve Brown
you know what? Just went to him this week? Because if he did, he probably don’t.
Justin Riley
But even then he’ll still do what he do.
Unknown Speaker
We stop at nachi this week, you’re gonna have the
Unknown Speaker
problem.
Unknown Speaker
That’s the problem is the problem. That’s the problem. I will agree with that. That’s the problem.
Justin Riley
So for everyone here for anybody who’s listening outside of the Alabama Auburn nation. Why is this the greatest robbery in college football? I’ll start with your
Marvin Constant
little brother always wants to beat the big brother. You know, it’s the complex that syndrome you know, little brother always wants to be better than big brother. You know, I don’t know. Why do you always want to beat us? I don’t know. You know,
Steve Brown
Marvin, I think is the greatest rivalry in college football. Because on that on that single day that they play, we lose more rednecks jumping off the side of the stadium. Yeah, so I’m yeah, that’s that’s
Unknown Speaker
that’s for my perspective. I think it’s the greatest robber in all seriousness just because us without like the state without having any professional teams. I mean, is that is that one week to where everything kind of shut down? wives, husbands not talking to each other co workers not talking to it? Like it’s that one week, everybody just takes so serious and make it you know, it’s our own professional teams, if that makes sense. So I think yeah, I think people just enjoy it and always look forward to and that’s why I saw a way it don’t matter what the record saw or who’s up for whatever, you know, it’s just always one of them weeks where anything can happen. So no, it’s just a good robbery.
Steve Brown
Oh, Michelle, so let me ask you this and I don’t want to come in but I gotta ask you this. So the rapper you see it Why not talking to her so back in your day? You but you play for Auburn? You are obviously very good. But you single and you see now you see a finance girl with a Bama gear on you
Unknown Speaker
graduated from Alabama.
Steve Brown
Okay, I’m just wanting to be brought up.
Unknown Speaker
Save it from the dark side. The reason why it was the reason why I had to get it had to get
Unknown Speaker
put a diploma up and then Man Man Man
Unknown Speaker
Almost in the house
Unknown Speaker
Wow. That’s really
Steve Brown
mom you might want to call and check on her make sure he doing he got a kidnap in the closet after the game.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah sometimes it’d be like, we got to do
Justin Riley
Rashad What do you think this is the greatest robbery in college football?
Unknown Speaker
Oh man, I think he’s right hit on it man. It’s the it’s the bragging rights. You know the 365 the division between the families and just like you said no professional sport. If you look around this there’s sports everywhere in Georgia, we hear so many things that distract you from you know your home team you grew up pride and joy with it man and people man they live for Alabama and Auburn football. So I think that’s just you know, what makes it so big. We talked about me gerar would love to travel around and check out all the robberies to kind of compare them and be able to send it on myself to see, but I don’t think they were competitive. So for sure, man 365 is too much like you said this man when he let his wife put his diploma up in his house. That’s borderline borderline bro
Marvin Constant
Yeah, risala Yo, is that that Charlie Brown Christmas tree back there you got
Steve Brown
Marvin, Marvin? A Marvin thought he was an Auburn fan and wait.
Unknown Speaker
Hey, let’s not bring up that that’s a sensitive subject. That’s a subject man.
Unknown Speaker
That’s it man.
Unknown Speaker
Don’t drag
Unknown Speaker
don’t drag too much.
Unknown Speaker
You ain’t you ain’t Alabama play I get your tree.
Unknown Speaker
That was wrong, but I
Unknown Speaker
was wrong. The scale trees man.
Unknown Speaker
ain’t gotta worry about watering it.
Unknown Speaker
Plug and Play. You know.
Steve Brown
A Marvin, I have to disagree with this. This Bama and
Unknown Speaker
a
Steve Brown
Auburn rivalry is being the greatest robbery in football. You you I can’t believe you Marvin that you would sell out like that. I thought Tuscaloosa county in Tuscaloosa central was the greatest robbery in football. That’s what I
Unknown Speaker
that’s a pretty solid one now.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, that’s what I was saying. Don’t don’t get your roots. I know you. I
Justin Riley
don’t know Steve. I still ranks above Ohio State Michigan. So you’re on the right track. Okay.
Marvin Constant
If you’re making a music video Jim Harbaugh will be good at it okay.
Justin Riley
So if he leaves he leaves a sponsorship with Dockers.
Steve Brown
Hey, but I want to know but did I not call him or when I told him he’s gonna be tracked and I’m not called
Marvin Constant
Yeah, he that he you right and that he is terrible. Dane putting up no fight. You know, that’s almost as bad as Florida State not playing want to play Clemson somebody couldn’t agree on medical reasons why Clemson traveled all the way down. I know Clemson was about to open up shop home. So they we all want to play.
Steve Brown
Well, that’s that’s what happened with LSU LSU. Alabama, same thing. Same thing.
Marvin Constant
clemson had traveled to Tallahassee did they walk through that flow and everything? It’s the morning of the game with Florida states ain’t playing
Unknown Speaker
three hours over.
Marvin Constant
So basically, we just took a road trip for nothing.
Justin Riley
Now they also offered them another opportunity for Sunday or Monday. They still turned it down. Yeah.
Marvin Constant
To get back to get
Unknown Speaker
back to fine. Deborah brought that positive. I’m gonna play it
Unknown Speaker
because I got it. He didn’t test positive till Friday.
Steve Brown
was speaking to coaches. I think I think what’s his name? Uh, he on the hot seat. Oh, being an M draw. Y’all do me a favor, please. Yo called Tommy. And give him the right information if you don’t run for political office. He’s saying I know y’all.
Unknown Speaker
Y’all agree. Listen, I’m agree with him on this. believe we voted him in.
Marvin Constant
Was Alabama fans voted for him? No. No question. Oh man. Oh god Wow Wow
Unknown Speaker
let’s yeah let’s keep the football yeah
Unknown Speaker
for sure.
Unknown Speaker
Man you man
Justin Riley
all right as players Tell me what the week leading up to the iron bowl look like reach you guys Ben we’ll start with you How did you prepare for this game unlike any others
Marvin Constant
towels meat and crackers typical arbour running back
Unknown Speaker
any differently you know in sec every team is tough you know so it wasn’t you know unless you prepare for us your defense was tough yeah ready for Tennessee defense was tough so it wasn’t apparent you know any differently from from any other week on intensity may have been a little bit higher in practice the coaches Of course, it was always more intense you know a little bit on edge um, but other than that, for me, I was always kind of more too laid back and private so for me when I always cared or cared every set everything to say every week
Justin Riley
about you Jason was practices a little bit more intense that week was a little bit something more in the air. How that had that feel for you.
Unknown Speaker
It would have when it comes to rob weeks. I mean, it is gonna be a little bit more intense. I don’t think you know, you had to be rah rah about it. I think it was just a known thing. Um, you know what it means when it when it comes to Alabama, Auburn, you know how that doesn’t matter what the records are coming into that game. It’s going to be a tough game, regardless of what it is. So, you know, stay in focus and practice practicing hard. It’s just something everybody did. That tempo was up there. Nobody had to, you know, get on anybody say Hey, man, this is this is iron bowl. Everybody knew what was up. Everybody needed to get ready for the game. So,
Steve Brown
uh, Justin, Jessica. Yeah. Jason lied to you just Jason is a light skinned brother. That means he was in his mirror more than he ever been doing practice. He was scared someone’s gonna scratch him. You got to understand Justin, Justin. There’s different shades to this thing. I tell them what to do. Jason.
Unknown Speaker
Hey, you look good. You play good.
Justin Riley
primetime over here. I hear you. Nothing wrong with that. Well, Bobby Rashad was any different from any other game? Or did it mean nothing more to you?
Unknown Speaker
Uh, you know, the intensity was different for sure during practice. And yeah, what means something you know, everything is about bragging rights your competitor so in state definitely means something to you, you got family members on both sides of it all. So that’s always fun to go back to the cookouts and have those opportunities to brag about getting away in an iron ball but during the week like he’s like I think being hit it right on the head man just the intensity of practice is different your preparation in terms of how you prepare doesn’t change because we get into a routine as as athletes and how those weeks kind of go you know what each day is going to be you do those things but the intensity is a little bit more and those coaches man they they definitely are a little bit a little bit tight man tight and everything that they got going on so you definitely have to watch out for net man and ignore the noise with that man. Do they definitely be a little bit a little bit of a headache sometimes.
Justin Riley
Oh no doubt not gonna bring out something pretty hard but Alabama guys here draw BAM y’all are part of that six game losing streak that y’all gave to Alabama. Can you talk about what that meant to y’all as players? And also you know as the team as a whole
Unknown Speaker
um, when I when I got to Auburn as a freshman at oh five I want to say it was a three game streak at the time two or three games together Tom once you grow up in the state of Alabama man like Like you said, You normally have to pick aside and you realize the importance of the game or you know, just visualizing yourself one day like man if I had an opportunity to play in the iron bowl, how great it is. And then when you actually get in that seat and you’re one of those athletes. I mean, you just realize everything that that’s on the lawn um, you know, for us it was it was sort of just trying to maintain what everybody that came before us had just done I mean, all the Auburn players know about the Alabama history and success championships and all that like we hear that 24 seven just on a serious note so when we had that streak going it was like our own success that the Alabama fan base hated like that that that six in a row thing I think from an Alabama fan base perspective is probably the one thing they’ve hated throughout their whole rival history. No matter what Rob away was. I remember tub walking off and gave a fan. The thumb Oh no. All bottles that is David irons got hit in the eye with a bottle after that game and that was me you know just it was some we definitely took pride in and some we definitely felt like you know we’re supposed to win this game like we’ve been these guys three years in a row four years in a row five years in a row in a row we’re supposed to win. And like, Rashad, say you only good as your last game and Oh wait, we was on the team that loss. And you would have thought like we were trash that year, I think we went six and seven, five Instead, it was something like that. And you know, we get shut out 38 zero in Tuscaloosa. And you would have thought we were undefeated and we just lost the national championship just because of we we were the time that broke that streak of whatnot. So we really took pride in that when we were in that moment.
Justin Riley
Now we’re shot on the flip side here part of that team that broke that streak. So what that meant to you and what that means to the team as a whole to break that drought.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, it meant a lot man, you know, my years there to not have beaten or run into see, you know, a lot of the guys that I play with during You know, my time here at Alabama, you know, not to have been over doing that career, spend three, four years, five years there and not win that game. You know, just something that you know, myself and you know, our senior class is just like, we couldn’t see that happening. You know, our last year, you know, after that junior season, we lost in Auburn, you know, kind of a dominant game, they were just more physical, I think they you know, set the clock back a million times just just a tough game. And I remember us meeting afterwards myself, Anton, john Parker, Wilson, just some different guys. Like, look, this year is gonna be different this year, we’re gonna make sure you know that we change the tide of things, and we don’t buy in, and I, and we kind of did that man. So it meant a lot, you know, to go out and change the trajectory of that, that robbery of what it had been, you know, with those six games, and like Darius said, Man, you know, you’re only as good as your last game. So for me like to have that one and no, you know, I don’t even think about the other 400 I lost to him and we’re wanting to know 36 zero, and I’m just gonna leave it at that man. That’s the last time I played all run on Vimeo the game so it definitely meant a lot. And to build that foundation, you know, for what everybody’s been doing, you know, these next couple years afterwards, and not
Unknown Speaker
knock off. I’m about to have to do my son got basketball practice. But another thing about my work. Yeah, another thing about the iron bowl, that’s, that’s so great about it. If you make a good play, you can be remembered forever. And I think every player knows that going into the iron bowl, like every arm bowl, somebody a fan base some error, you just remember each one of them and if you got one of those games that you make that one play to win the game or you just dominate that one game, you can go back to Tuscaloosa go back to all them whenever and they’re gonna remember your name forever off of what you did in the iron bowl. And that’s another thing that makes this game so important. I mean, you got people literally Hey, they’re still making money from autograph signings and all this other stuff just off of what they done in the arm bowl and what people remember them for so it’s a legacy thing too that goes with goes with this game that’s coming this week as well.
Marvin Constant
me like my man Jay Mac with the Daniel Moore Yeah, you get that guy
Steve Brown
well guess what Justin? Let’s not have gerat back because he talked about beating us too much so
Unknown Speaker
hold it down take hold it down.
Justin Riley
Dry I appreciate you coming Oh man. Yeah, man. My death I respect your game. love what you did. Even when you weren’t playing us man. I was cheering for you because I’m an SEC guy. Second love when you find the NFL brother. You were intense and I love what you and Rashard doing with your show. So keep it up, man. Appreciate it. I
Unknown Speaker
appreciate you guys. Nope.
Justin Riley
Yeah. All right, Rashad. I got somebody who can who can talk about what that 2008 baytree 1000 victory felt like I got a teammate of yours. Okay, he’s the man who came from the state of Texas to play some real football at the University of Alabama, won the 2009 National Championship with NFL played in the CFL. But what he’s known for now is one of the most dominant forces and the UFC. None other than Eric Anders.
Unknown Speaker
He
Justin Riley
What’s going on?
Unknown Speaker
No
Unknown Speaker
money, no money, no fight.
Unknown Speaker
I love it. Love
Justin Riley
can you do that fight between shows here in Jackson this weekend?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah
Steve Brown
this is this is this is history right here man. We got to live
Unknown Speaker
I knew that was coming. It was coming. We
Unknown Speaker
all in it together man Dr. King and for that
Marvin Constant
What if there was r&b group what would the name be?
Steve Brown
Man? Are you here Marvin going in? Are y’all?
Unknown Speaker
Okay? Okay, okay.
Unknown Speaker
What’s going on brother?
Unknown Speaker
Man that much man just uh, over here watching the my kids wrestle.
Steve Brown
Hey, man so So Eric, look, I was looking for the fight that you supposed to do like a week ago or last? Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Well, essentially, I took the fight on short notice and cut a little bit too much weight, like I need time to cut mass and not just water. So I essentially cut too much water and I was having my lower back pain had some kidney issues and whatnot. So I just had to you know, it’s not safe to fight when you’re feeling like that. So I had to withdraw from the fight and hopefully we get a reschedule for, you know, January, February timeframe.
Steve Brown
Yeah, I know how you feel because one time I lost a lot of water to pee and and to be it but the same thing.
Marvin Constant
I got a question for you here. Watch. I’ve watched some of yours. And I watch UFC in general. couldn’t let nobody kick me in my face. I’m sorry. I didn’t even laser. Huh?
Unknown Speaker
I said ain’t got me in the face. Did I get the hell?
Marvin Constant
To have the courage to even get in that ring? Amen. I salute you, brother, you’ll get but what is it like in that ring? Because that is full contact? Like man football.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, man, you know, to be honest, you know, I kind of just think about like, it’s like a regular competition. You know, obviously, it’s not a football game because you know, the same margin of error. Tom Brady throwing an interception, that same margin of error in MMA, you know, you’re waking up asking, did I win? And if you you know, if you ask that, you know, you ain’t win and go well for you. So
Steve Brown
I got one more question. So So have you ever been in a fight, and you will lose it and you beat somebody, but you see a loss? Because I was in the club and it was beat my ass and I begged him to get me off me. And it didn’t work. So
Unknown Speaker
I mean, yeah, honestly, I have been somebody in a fight before. Now he was on top we like we were wrestling up against the cage and somehow has his hand ended up in my mouth. So I gave him you know, just to get him to jump and move a little bit. And, and I was able to reverse position and advance my position. So it kind of worked out a little bit better for me than it did you.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Justin Riley
Err, before you jumped on. I was asking Rashad about how it felt in 2008 to break that streak that Auburn had for six straight years, man, what that mean to you and what that means? Oh,
Unknown Speaker
man, you know, it’s great. You know, that’s that’s like the, you know, when I first came to bat when people were like, you could lose every game and beat all burn. And this is a be a good season. So, you know, kind of sucked. I think my first three seasons, we lost all burn. And then my last two, we beat them and it kind of started to train that they’re on now. So you know, Aubrey really hasn’t bounced back. quite as good as Bama has, but I’m sure that they’ll be right in the future.
Marvin Constant
Gus buss got a bad transmission angle and
Unknown Speaker
got a transmission. Hey, Fred Flintstone baby, they pedaling by foot over there.
Justin Riley
It’s about 2009 Hey, Benny. At that time, you know you were regardless one of the best running backs in the sec we talked about earlier. You know that time Mark Ingram was favored to win the Heisman. You felt that you were the best back man like you said it in an interview. How much more motivation was it for you to go head to head with Ingram that game?
Unknown Speaker
Oh, it was definitely motivation but I knew it was gonna be tough. I mean, the defense that year was probably one of the best defenses in the country. So I knew it was gonna be a tough game for me. I wasn’t expecting going into like, you know, get a whole lot of yards. I was just hoping that I ran for more than him.
Unknown Speaker
He probably did. He didn’t have Josh Bynes everywhere marking or when Josh Meyers was on his ass. I can say that game.
Unknown Speaker
They may Martin You’re gonna tap out. He tapped out that game. He came out in a turnover Johnson came in he was running hard timbers he came in Reinhardt Amar man, look, he was tagging him, he tapped out in that game. I was shocked. I was like
Unknown Speaker
what
Unknown Speaker
he took this to, and what’s
Unknown Speaker
every year, the second string running back for Bama balls out of control. Every year when Trent was a man, Eddie would fall out whenever he got in the game. And TJ elder would ball out whenever he got in the game. That’s just how it go. But you
Steve Brown
know what’s funny about that, man, you are hitting the nail dead on the heat. This is why I have a problem. But now don’t get me wrong. nachi is demand. But that’s why I have a problem with them not feeding Brian Davis enough basically to feed him too because he is a absolute baller. But he gets like one or three cameras and then
Unknown Speaker
Matt Wilson, we’ll see him next year, man since you know. Yeah, he’s
Unknown Speaker
right. Come back if you wanted to. Yeah.
Steve Brown
I’m coming back to
Unknown Speaker
COVID COVID. Can I get a chance to come back this year if they want to no matter
Unknown Speaker
what draft Class A B d
Unknown Speaker
don’t have to lose? Yeah.
Marvin Constant
He was the first black partner.
Justin Riley
Yeah, solid hamstrings in that. Day, Charles Marvin.
Steve Brown
Yeah, cheers. Ready, y’all ever don’t trip? Don’t trip. Mama, you give me every week, man every week. Okay. All right. I’ll be
Justin Riley
sticking with Ben course. You know, you experienced a coaching change with Tocqueville and chyzyk What was the main differences in preparation, I guess for the iron bowl and in other games.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, for me, man, we I went through for three or four coordinators. Although I had all I had guys. I’m Tony Franklin. Borgias. Um, and then I had like ensminger for a little bit like Hanes maker and arm as maker like Graham was kind of like the OCS for a little guy. So like Madden had, like, all like every year was almost kind of different, you know, cuz, based on that OSI, you know, everyone kind of, you know, prepares a little bit differently. So, every every year for me was always different. It was always different. I had a different OSI almost like, every year around that time, I had different OSI.
Marvin Constant
I got a question for you, though. So clearly, Tommy, Tommy, reveal, one of the best coaches ever come to all but I was baffled when they actually fired him. What was that like as a player knowing that you have this coach who’s won all these games and has owned Alabama, and then they just fire him? That had to be like, that come out of nowhere for y’all.
Justin Riley
And went undefeated? Not too long before.
Unknown Speaker
Right, right. Um,
Unknown Speaker
that year, man, we were we were bad. Whoo. It was terrible. Like, you could just tell, like we needed a culture change like it was it was that bad. Like, even to like the type of recruits and stuff that like we were kind of starting to get like, it just wasn’t, it just kind of wasn’t like the same caliber guys was coming in. We’d like man, like, someone like we’re kind of looking at some of the guys who’s coming in and we could just tell like the culture was starting to change a little bit. And I think that everyone can sensitive. So I think they knew it was time for you know, four finger change.
Justin Riley
Wow. Someone who went through a lot of coaching changes and coordinated changes with Jason. Jason, how was that for you? Going through those the revolving door of coaches.
Unknown Speaker
I think the biggest adjustment is is getting used to the new coaches that’s coming in. You know, we had the Bose and then we came in with francione francione coached over a TC who was a Damien Thomas and they’re gonna know how That’s something that he kind of brought to Alabama for my senior year, as a receiver out, you know, we don’t want to be running option all the time. So you know, it’s just kind of hard. You got me Freddie millons Terry Jones, Jr, no, all of us went to the league and you get three pass catchers and you know, we run options. So, you know, whether having to adjust to new offenses and being able to have a coach and showcase the talents of the players, the best way that they can sometimes it just takes that adjustment. You know, different offensive coordinators. Sophomore year, the Boz was there we had a as a corner for BYU. He wanted to open up that’s when we had shot 99 one sec. One sec that year. We were four wides you know we had shot Alexander in the backfield. We were wide open so you know, you that getting adjusted? And that’s what the offseasons for. I mean, right? There’s not like Alabama’s only team has gone through coaching changes before so it’s just it’s just a big adjustment and getting used to the business atmosphere of you know, we’re here to do a job and just getting new coaches. So it does take some time but you know, you they give you enough time in the offseason to get that done. I feel so no excuses. I feel
Justin Riley
no absolutely. Shot. What about for you? Yeah, you experienced Shula, then Saban? How was that different?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. You know, I think a lot of those guys kind of touched on it, how each, you know, Coach brings, you know, different schemes and things of that nature. But I think the biggest thing with you know, Coach Shula and Coach Saban was just the culture change. You know, Coach Shula grew up, you know, what his dad Don Shula, we all know how great he was an NFL and the great things he did. And I was a part of that with his whole entire journey, you know, as a kid and being in those locker rooms, and then a person like myself having a chance to experience college and then experienced NFL as well. You saw the difference in those two cultures. And I felt, you know, like coat, Shula had a little bit more of a leniency a little bit more of a handle you like you’re kind of NFL type type program, you know, you’re playing well, on Saturdays kind of in between the week, I’m not really worried about that type of stuff, and begin to get away from us couldn’t really win those big games where we needed to, you know, have issues here and there with different things. But then when coach Shula I mean, Coach Saban came in man, it was just like he came in with a structure, you know, a whole process and a whole kind of just building of how things were going to be done. I mean, from from off the field of where your classes were being checked to, you know, on the field in terms of what your meals were, and in terms of, you know, weight checks, it was just a totally different culture of accountability and kind of, you know, everybody having, you know, to be a part of what they wanted it to get done. And so that was kind of the two differences that I saw, you know, from the Shula era to the Saban era that made him you know, so much different I think, Coach Shula what he’s doing now and NFL, I mean, great coach there. I just think the college game was it fit for him in terms of, you know, giving guys that 1819 years old, that much leniency to kind of live their lives as they want to during the week as long as they were balling on Saturdays which is great and NFL, that’s kind of how it goes your man you kind of deal with and it works that way. But in college, you need a little bit more structure a little bit more, you know, people around you helping you you know, navigate issues and I think Coach Saban you know, did a much better job of just putting those people in place to help you navigate you know, through everything you know, in early stages of your career in college. Yeah, no
Justin Riley
doubt. Like I know you guys have amazing stash money careers amazing compliments where does an iron Bowl victory rank and all that and we’ll start with you are shot.
Unknown Speaker
Oh man. So for me major accomplishments everything I’ve done are both victory for me was probably I say can be probably the top five of my experiences in terms of football throughout my entire career high school college NFL and one reason why is because we were able to break that streak you know, six games you know, I’ve never beaten Auburn in my career and then it was my senior year my senior class table kind of turn that tide man so for me and then the wind and the fashion we did it wasn’t like it was 1714 or 10 three, we beat them 36 zero kind of came in and brought that dominance back to where we felt it should be and it’s definitely a top five it’s me as a player you know throughout my entire career to win iron bow man so these guys that you know getting the first opportunity to win one that may have lost it last year you know good luck and let’s go do what we got to do man get this done.
Justin Riley
No doubt no doubt. Hey,
Unknown Speaker
I want to x or shot that year. Yeah. I mean, could you tell could you see a different from years before?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yeah, we watched it. Yeah, it was it was you could see it I mean, you watch the finish just didn’t have gotten like y’all weren’t fighting anymore You know I’m saying there was no more fighting it kind of people Yeah, yeah, you could tell man it was the talent level was different totally quarterback position, which I’ll still kind of struggle to find that. Like this damn, bro. But uh, yeah, totally was down that year, man so I can see what you’re saying in terms of guys and having a you know, move away from suburbia. You know after a while man. It kind of just gets You never thought kind of like Andy re would ever get fired.
Justin Riley
If he goes, Oh, yeah.
Unknown Speaker
He never kind of happens. You know? It gets old it gets stagnant and you got to go and refresh yourself and do something else. And unfortunately to tell him I thought he was a politician we probably should have stuck
Steve Brown
on look at here.
Justin Riley
Steve’s running neck. Neck neck.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Let’s go get it
Justin Riley
all back for you, Ben. Where’s the iron Bowl victory rank in your stats, your legacy? Oh,
Unknown Speaker
for me, you got to realize I’m not from this. I’m not from Alabama. I’m not from Georgia. I’m from Maryland. ain’t even know how the iron bow tradition in history until, you know, I started, you know, being interested in Auburn. You know, I didn’t get an offer from Alibaba until overnight, the overall for me, you know, so for me, it’s not like a it was a grew as something that grew on me the tradition of it, you know, I believe now out there experiencing and seeing some other things. It’s a number one, you know, tradition is number one, like college football, I believe in and just bought, probably almost. For me playing the games I
Unknown Speaker
was excited to
Unknown Speaker
toy with and my overall career. I wouldn’t say you know, top five, maybe, uh, maybe the six when maybe being a part of seats when I played well and won that game. So maybe, maybe that maybe what would have a chance to sneak in, but for me, just, you know, it was something that happened wrong, because I wasn’t, I wasn’t from down there. Understand that?
Unknown Speaker
What about you, Jason?
Unknown Speaker
Um, you know, for me, I gotta say, my senior year when we played Auburn, you know, we were heavily heavy underdog. And we beat on 31 to seven. And then, like, we speak of legacy, you know, saying, I’ll have that Danya more that I have, of me of that game called the turning point, which was a turning point in the game, you know, when when zout through that pass to me, it kind of kind of open that thing up, you know, from then on, and we just kind of routed them. But that’s something I’m always going to have, you know, saying 4050 years down the road, you know, you know, my kids, my grandkids that they can only see that painting and see, you know, that’s my that’s my dad. That’s my granddad. So that’s, you know, that legacy, that’s something that’s gonna live on forever. So yeah, but when it comes to something like that, um, it means a lot to me. But like Ben said, I’m originally from, from New York, you know, I went to high school in Tennessee. You know, I wasn’t even into football, and I got down to Tennessee. It wasn’t a big you know, basketball in New York is football, you know, Tennessee down south. So, I didn’t know about the Alabama autobiography. Like, I knew it was a rivalry but I didn’t know any you know, I wasn’t Tennessee fan growing up. I thought I was gonna go to Tennessee. I had to go because of the tradition. I live right outside Knoxville. So you know, Tennessee and I end up going to Alabama? Yeah, I realized Alabama beat Tennessee every year. So it’s like my high school. A lot of tradition in Alabama had a lot of traditions. So I’m going down there. But not to get off subject but so you know, having that legacy of Alabama, Oregon, and it did grow on me. Just like Ben said, it did grow on me. And like he says, looking back on everything that’s happened since then. I mean, things like the kids, things like that. I mean, it’s a big big rivalry and from other places that I’ve been and other schools that I’ve seen play. I don’t see any rivalry bigger than it.
Justin Riley
Yeah, yeah. Without a doubt. And
Marvin Constant
for clarity purposes on the kick six he stepped out of bounds. I don’t care what nobody said. I was like a close
Justin Riley
more or less Okay, we’ll get a chance to see that about 10 times probably in the telecast on Saturday. But Eric Of course he killed it Alabama you were responsible with one of the key moments and then I’m getting to that I’m getting to that no, you took down the quarterback where we had a key fumble that turned things around from us you got got that ring now you’re killing it and UFC with all that said Where does that iron Bowl victory rank in your legacy?
Unknown Speaker
Um, man, I would say that oh nine a game is up there right up there with the Florida SEC championship and the national championship just because man over started off hot. I think they went up 24 nothing off real and we were able to you know recompose ourselves get back and you know, ended up winning the game and then before the game we were late getting to uh, you know, all that pre game stuff because all over flooded the street with cars and trapping and stuff and delayed the bus and made us all late so that we got there got dressed, go play damn here, how it went. And yeah, so we had a battle back through some adversity and you know, that kind of just kind of to me, always reveals the true nature and character of Have the team if things aren’t going your way you’re down you’re losing a halftime but you still find a way to win and you know those are the games that I remember the most. Yeah lane for doing that too.
Unknown Speaker
They almost work
Unknown Speaker
together as a community and as a fan base to the stadium what time Okay cool. We all getting on the road. cars in New York City out there in the middle
Justin Riley
are delivered. We talk about this year’s game real quick. Can each of you tell me your favorite iron bowl memory, if you can narrow down to one Rashad, we’ll start with you.
Unknown Speaker
Favorite iron bowl memory will probably be that single year game. It was fourth quarter coaches kind of taking guys out of the game you know so you can all get you know, you’re standing know from the fans, we went 10 or 12. And all that year, got us back to kind of national prominence and I’ll never forget my last play. Someone found a ball can’t remember. And it’s like a scramble for it. We’re all running for it crazy to get it and I dive on the ball and come up with it. So like my last play in Brian Denny in the iron bow, that game was recovering a fumble and I got a chance to come out to feel you know, we rotated series so I guess they’ll probably be you know, my greatest memory of you know, 36 nothing in my last play and Brian Denny was actually recovering a fumble, you know, in that game, so that was probably my best memory.
Unknown Speaker
But you gotta keep saying this coil you can get to do all that. You got to
Unknown Speaker
zero.
Unknown Speaker
I would have a whole lot to say about that game. But I didn’t even really play. Yeah, crazy part. So
Unknown Speaker
yeah, real.
Unknown Speaker
That’s the politics of college football. So I can’t really put me in a game for whatever reason.
Justin Riley
Right, Rashad? You
Unknown Speaker
keep that ball. No, no, I
Unknown Speaker
keep that. I keep that one.
Justin Riley
Dang, man, that one to have been what was your favorite memory for you?
Unknown Speaker
I think you had to be six. Six gang. Um, it was it was in Jordan hair. It was I think it was a pretty decent game. I think we won that game, maybe 17 to 10 or something like that, or 21 to 14 something like that. Oh. I remembered it because uh, I play well, um, and just to see the crowd just erupt and go crazy, you know, and we celebrated that six things six win. Like we won a national championship. It was it was crazy man. And I’ve never seen you know, at that point in my career. I had never seen a stadium like that before. So that’s and that’s probably one of my favorite hombro omro in Missouri,
Steve Brown
so so being out of all the great things that the iron bowl possess the women the kids the food, the pageantry, you got to bring up six wins, but what’s that all about? Me? You ain’t got to do that. Just let’s not have him back.
Justin Riley
Is that the game? We’re girag a bit by the door.
Unknown Speaker
I believe so. I think so. Yeah, I think it was it. Yeah, that was it.
Justin Riley
I Jason What about you mammy, you can go back to nine nine where we defeated all them for the first time in German hair ever. Oh you go that 2001 game man but what’s your greatest arambol memory
Unknown Speaker
and this is what I want to hear. That’s what I want to hear.
Unknown Speaker
I got to go back to that. That 2001 I was good because remember we used to play in Birmingham. Birmingham so that was the first time that we have played Auburn Auburn. And we did win that game and 9901 though you know that was still a that was a down year for us. You know we I think we were like started season out three and five and things out took over a quarterback and and we won like three three straight and then we were they were six and six or something like that. We needed our I think we needed to get that win against Auburn just to make it to a bowl game that year if I believe because we came up with bad you’re a junior. That was when DuBose left. And that’s my friend Tony came in my senior year. So I’m knowing that we even had to get that win to make it to a bowl game. We didn’t have a great season. I think Auburn I only have one or two losses going into that game. Like I said they were heavily favored. The fact that you know, we were able to break that game up and went by so much and overcome so much fun we had been through throughout the season. I think it’s a is probably one of my my best memories and then again, you know, I have a Daniel Daniel painting to look back on and remember it as well. So yeah, wait when I get old and like who’s adding that painting? Can’t remember nothing? I still have it sitting up on the wall. So, um, yeah, I gotta go back to that 2001 way, man, that was that was that was big for the team.
Justin Riley
Ever. What about you, man? What was your greatest memory for you as a player?
Unknown Speaker
Um, for me as a player, I don’t think it’s really necessarily anything that I did in the game. But when Roy up church caught that last touchdown, and oh, nine, dude. The crowd was just you know, we were on offense down there at the goal line and it was just so loud right catches the ball and then man, you could hurt a wrap his own cotton quad just to leoncio and then you know, our sideline, you know, the Bama fans, you know, we got Kroenke and whatnot. got, you know, because that was the game right there. You know, they was the last drive of the game. And, you know, maybe Auburn had one more possession after that. But didn’t score. So man was just good to see a player like Roy up to her to kind of win his whole career, you know, under the radar to some big and have his moment like that. Next
Marvin Constant
year. I love what right man row was one of my favorite players, man, he really well.
Unknown Speaker
You know, I think that’s a good one. So, I think it’d be hard to top that. I guess the only way you could, you know, I was rolling myself if I had done that. I think that’s you know, just, uh, just the circumstances and everything that went into that play. And he called for like, he was screaming at saving and, and I forget who the offensive coordinator at the time was, but he was screaming out, give me the ball, don’t move the ball or whatever. And, you know, they called his number and he delivered.
Unknown Speaker
He was mad.
Unknown Speaker
He did. Yeah, that’s right. That’s right.
Steve Brown
That’s right was see we should have more people like him on the show. Great when I got Justin, I got a confession to make. Make it Listen. Listen. I know being from Alabama. You have to be on one side. or the other. Okay. Yeah, I got a confession. I am a diehard Bama fan. But my second team is over. If Alabama does not plan on rooting for over. Does that make me a like one chromosome from being retarded? What’s going on? Oh, not
Justin Riley
at all. But look, I cheer for all the SEC teams. You know when they’re the national championship game and I’m cheering for an SEC squad, you know, I want our commerce look great. That’s that’s the way I feel about and I’ve been accused of you’re not a true fan, man.
Unknown Speaker
I like them both.
Justin Riley
I know you like him. Because I’m one of your videos where you’re promoting all your shows. You were young War Eagle.
Unknown Speaker
Don’t do that.
Justin Riley
Instagram Guys, if y’all go check him out. Follow him. You know.
Unknown Speaker
It was a it was a it was a video.
Justin Riley
Let’s turn our attention to this year’s game. Guys. First of all, what are your feelings on this year’s team going in?
The ads Do you want to kick this one off?
Steve Brown
Who? Me? Yeah. Um, I haven’t washed over too much. This year. I’ve just been a mess, to be honest. And honestly, I personally, I don’t understand what’s going on with the office because honestly, when I am an Auburn fan, and Auburn’s offense seems to diminish as the years go on. And to me is one of the best offices of the college football. I don’t know what’s going on between him and a guy that he had offers coordinating and what but that’s just what it is. And of course, our defense is still atrocious To me, that’s just me. I don’t know what the hell they get the other D coordinator from but that’s just what it is. So it’s gonna be interesting that it’s gonna be and I think that’s all I can say I know bound was gonna win, but it’s gonna be interesting.
Marvin Constant
I was watching Paul finebaum. The other day, he was talking about our defensive coordinator. And Paul, where did you get this guy from? They were trying to dig up information on him. It find mom can’t find information on you’re probably not the best of a coach.
Steve Brown
Telling you I’ve been Justin. You know, I’ve been on this. I’ve been on this since I’ve been on this show. I don’t know where to got him from. I he has no background that he did he he being coached at ITT tech. I don’t know. Now, you know, I’ma tell you if, if all burn scores a lot of points this weekend, you know he done right. He need to be done anyway. No, no, no, don’t go knock him off. I believe he’s crazy.
Justin Riley
Like is holding Auburn’s offense back right now? Is it the quarterback? What do y’all see right now?
Unknown Speaker
A goal line and consistency as the quarterback position got the the bowl kid can play a little bit. But he just it over 400 yards one game and 450 yards next game. Let me know.
Justin Riley
Let me let me ask you, Dan.
Ask your question. Do you feel like it Bo Nix just isn’t it? Or do you feel like he’s not being developed the way you should be? Well, that’s
Unknown Speaker
what’s that Chad? Justin? Oh,
Steve Brown
no. You know what, Justin, what I’m seeing what I’m seeing and being maybe you can help me out on this, I think is something else I think is a battle within between the head coach and the OC because you’re the head coach does not want he’s always been able to call the offense. And I know what I’m saying. What I’ve seen at Auburn, if they got the right pieces in an office
Marvin Constant
is Steve. See. Let me draw one thing off as a coordinator, he was coaching with Moussa at the hospital. They were coaching high school together, but they
Unknown Speaker
don’t want to trust nobody when
Marvin Constant
I’m saying he brought that out back out there. He was they were coaching in high school together. They were supposed to develop this offense together, Steve, so if he’s gonna trust anybody, that’s who he will be trusting.
Steve Brown
But but he doesn’t. That’s what I’m trying to tell you. is a classic Les Paul, and he doesn’t trust that guy. What do you think? What do you think?
Marvin Constant
So what do you mean? Don’t hold back now?
Unknown Speaker
We’re not gonna
Unknown Speaker
we’re not gonna realize what you got. Now. You had um, what’s the other kid name elite?
Unknown Speaker
Uh,
Justin Riley
well, uh, he’s at Liberty right now.
Unknown Speaker
Right? Yeah. Okay, so you all you wrote him off right? Do you had another kid was named gates or something like that. Get
Justin Riley
your gate Joey gatewood he’s a Kentucky
Unknown Speaker
right so you run these these top talented kids off? Why Why do you run them off? Because what’s that man last night?
Unknown Speaker
Was that quarterback
Unknown Speaker
last night?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, but that oh man, he was
Unknown Speaker
the best quarterback. They’re
Unknown Speaker
always political. Political. Let me
Unknown Speaker
man he’s overrated overrated
Unknown Speaker
he’s a thank you is overrated is the
Unknown Speaker
quarterback is a decent quarterback.
Unknown Speaker
Yes, but they made him to be the you know the Savior and he was gonna cover that he can’t do that.
Unknown Speaker
He needs he needs to teach his teammates to make plays
Unknown Speaker
for him. He’s not he’s not able to gain one line to drop dishes drop back and just drive down the field. You know, saying pick a defense apart he can’t do that. And they realized that I try to make them into that and they realize you know what we do we know he’s not that we can’t make them that let’s pull back this office now and to make it into what he’s good at. Let’s
Marvin Constant
let’s get the ball to our playmakers hands. And you know what, though? If Tennessee had made some some stupid mistakes last week, Tim’s dude won a game last week. Yeah. That game
Steve Brown
man one thing one thing I can say about this though. He told the truth and he made sure he had never ever gave it go back down again.
Unknown Speaker
Know Me if you know anything about me. I think
Unknown Speaker
i think i think i think i don’t know if I agree with being all the way 100% or not I agree a little bit with him. But I also agree that I mean, they in developing them you know, you know we can stay there as well. small, small water gatewood left, the other kid left. But like let’s go and look at the former quarterbacks that often have had over Gusmao zones career like which one are good Nice hair stood him was probably the best one. And you know, and he wasn’t that good for them to go get, you know, Cam Newton to come in and be to start in New England. So obviously building thinking was that good of a quarterback? He had been there for a few years, but he couldn’t start. So I mean, like, I think it’s more of a development I think it’s more these players then it is so much of you know, that kid just can’t play. Yeah, we talking about the offense and what they put in them in and different things like that. I guess the inconsistency when you look at all runs on offense, they are inconsistent. One week, they come out like you said, Bo Nix is thrown a ball 30 times this and that, or they come out the next week and they want to put it on tank bigsby. I think they got to find an identity. And I think it goes back to what Steve said. There’s a fight between Gus malzahn and the Office of coordinator one week I’m
Unknown Speaker
telling you, man,
Unknown Speaker
because it just looks too It looks.
Unknown Speaker
Watch
Steve Brown
that I’m telling you, I’m willing to bet you it’s always been ever since Gus has been there. They’ve always talking about him not trusting the office coordinator. He’s taken over in gangs and all that. That’s just what it is. So do just be the OC he was better to me as an OC because he I mean, but hey, at least I think Gus to come down. to replay.
Unknown Speaker
Well, we may get
Unknown Speaker
he might he might be the way the way he been putting up points
Unknown Speaker
last few years.
Justin Riley
Well, sticking with you, Ben, what is over and a half to do to repeat what they did in last year’s performance?
Marvin Constant
make some phone calls, get some PDS?
Unknown Speaker
Oh,
Unknown Speaker
they will definitely just have the brain energy, I’m sure. And again, there’s nothing
Unknown Speaker
they can do that’s urgent. You keep
Unknown Speaker
them short again. hopefully make some places plays on special teams. We score on special teams. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, amen. Hopefully a man
Unknown Speaker
can take basically play on Okay. Is he back? No, he’s not. He’s,
Justin Riley
he’s listening doubtful right now. They hadn’t really given us anything more than that. I was gonna ask, like, how big of an impact and he made this game if he’s helping
Unknown Speaker
our farmer make a huge impact. A huge difference in the game with him. There’s a big difference between him and the
Marvin Constant
next running back beat. But did you watch him play last week? It looked like he might have got a hit point or something from the way you know, it’s not it’s not hard to get a hit point when you fall like that. That’s what it looked like to me. I don’t know if you heard anything about it now. But he just didn’t look right when he was running to left. And as a running back, you know, that’s hard to do. So, do you really think he’s gonna be effective coming back off a hip injury?
Steve Brown
And yeah, I believe I believe he’s going to be very effective. If Pete Golding is calling the defense plays. Yes, I do.
Unknown Speaker
A Hippo knows when he can hurt and it can hurt for a couple of days. And you know, when the fourth day is gone, right? Well, you know, it just depends.
Steve Brown
But in this game, if
Unknown Speaker
I didn’t see what happened to it, I didn’t tell him that game itself.
Steve Brown
Bro, yet, bro. Y’all don’t understand if he has his leg amputated. He’s still gonna make a difference if he’s playing against one leg. Let him go.
Unknown Speaker
Did a strong right.
Justin Riley
Nothing wrong with that air from a defensive standpoint. What do you want to see from Alabama in this game?
Unknown Speaker
Man, I would like to see to not give up a bunch of points, man. It’s it’s probably the most anybody has scored on Alabama over the course of the year and a long time. And man I think evolver shows up they could put up points, but on the flip side of the coin. Bama will put up a lot too. So I just hope it’s not one of those Pac 12 games where they shine out score each other the whole time. I hope the Bama establishes a defense. Yeah, hold them down. You know, I know when we were in when I was there we set goals and to keep them under 14 points was a goal. So I would like to see Bama. Do this all.
Steve Brown
Hey, man. This is Justin. I’m gonna ask Eric How does it make you feel to watch bamas defense You see people run through them like that, how does that make you feel as a defensive player, man, look,
Unknown Speaker
I chopped up because every defense is doing it all the games this year have been turned out of what conference had been high score. So I think you know them delay in spring ball and all that, you know, probably had something to do with that. So I give this year a mulligan, as long as they’re winning, you know, as long as their offense is coming through, because historically, that hasn’t been the case. It’s always been the defense that kept the offense on the field. And you know, the goal is to score some of those scores be like nine to 12 or, you know, 2124 so that’s kind of football I like, but man, it’s hard to say that bamas offense isn’t exciting to watch this year with Smith going off and you know, before water got hurt him doing his thing, and it’s just it’s exciting to see the throws and catches that these guys are making.
Unknown Speaker
Yes, miss.
Unknown Speaker
You’re like your fourth cousin. Right?
Justin Riley
Yeah, I can tell about his running style, and it’s catchy. Yeah, man.
Unknown Speaker
It’s crazy.
Unknown Speaker
I know. Defense payment plan, you know, nearly like how we wanted them to this year or last year, you know, or here in the recent past. I think we got to take action, you know, this new style offers this new rabbit pace, fast pace, playing out in space tight running quarterbacks that have changed the whole dynamic of the game. Even myself, like I never would have thought that you know, defenses couldn’t stop these offices, or it would be a time of pace to where they will be scored as many points as we see in scoring and sec. We got we’re talking about the goat right here. The goat Nick Saban said this four days ago, he literally said I don’t I do think the days of playing great defense and winning are probably behind us and college football, quote,
Steve Brown
never shot let me ask you this, you You look very comfortable where you are. And you will look even better. If you if you were sitting in the defensive coordinator office at Alabama, would you consider that if I talk to Nick Saban? I
Unknown Speaker
mean I can I can pay you, I would consider an opportunity for it to be there as a coach always man, you know,
Steve Brown
say the defensive coordinator.
Unknown Speaker
I’d love to man I would do I would simplify that. Don’t allow our players to play. I don’t care if they know we’re in because they don’t have Peyton Manning back their quarterback Tom Brady’s not throwing the ball. They’re college kids, we’re gonna play our defense. So we’re gonna play we play and be able to line up nowadays when you’re adjusting and trying to change the defense to somebody going in motion or shift here. When you watch Alabama. motion, every single play, and we’re trying to adjust to it. That’s tough to do in this day and age with all the shifts and motions and how fast officers are going to simplify things. You gotta allow your guys to know what they’re doing and play confident. If you don’t know what you’re doing. You’re always catching as a defender.
Steve Brown
Well, you know what, I’m gonna do this for you. I’m a page. I’m okay. I’m gonna save it on this page.
Unknown Speaker
No doubt.
Unknown Speaker
He got a pager he won’t text so he definitely got a page.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, the flip
Justin Riley
CB radio
Unknown Speaker
first, so we knew new songs up.
Steve Brown
Hey, man, y’all do me a favor and look at being he is he is thinking about this book.
Justin Riley
So which players? Do you feel like I have the biggest impact in this game Saturday on both sides. We’ll start with you. Jason, what do you feel like is gonna make the biggest impact for Alabama?
Unknown Speaker
I really think on the offensive side for Alabama, I I really feel like this, whatever Auburn is gonna try and stop. They’re gonna try and stop the run, which I think they will try to do. I think Matt’s gonna have a good game. You know, they definitely have the weapons on outside to do it. And he’s definitely has the skills to do it. So I look for him having a big game, Smitty. You know right along with him. On a defensive side, you know, you got Dylan Moses, who’s you know, the captain of that of that defense. You know, I don’t want to see a I don’t want to see Kentucky, Alabama game. I don’t want to see a you know, Alabama, Ole Miss game with score. You know, I want to see the defense step up. I think they have improved throughout the year. Early on in the year. They struggled. They seemed like they were struggling to kind of find our identity. I feel like they’ve kind of found it. And it’s gotten better each week of doing that, you know, looking at the last game Kentucky but um, I think Mac and Smitty will have a have a big game tomorrow, or I’m sorry, not tomorrow, but this weekend.
Justin Riley
Then what about you? Who do you feel like needs to make an impact for all them on both sides of the ball? training staff
Marvin Constant
didn’t cancel the game.
The Florida State
Unknown Speaker
trainers ban funny shit
Unknown Speaker
I mean, it was our chance to win both knees. It was mine. You want to play games over you know 300 yards and maybe rough about 100 Oh yeah,
Unknown Speaker
yeah. Um
Unknown Speaker
and then of course the wide receivers giving me some good wide receiver played wide receiver stuff well, I think we have a chance to win because I think the run I think the no way is gonna kind of week this year.
Unknown Speaker
Oh no.
Steve Brown
Amen. You know what? The best answer the best answer you could have given to Auburn for them to actually have a chance against Bama. You should you should not be so so so much. Just say bring me back. Just say they don’t have to bring me on anything. I don’t even
Unknown Speaker
owe anything. You know,
Unknown Speaker
I’ll make a lawyer. Okay, but I don’t think I’ll make a difference.
Steve Brown
Trust me in this
Marvin Constant
video. You know, you know we’re about to happen.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, as convinced some tough questions, man. It’s kind of hard to kind of find somebody answers to these questions. I asked him. You’re gonna have to have some explosive plays. You’re gonna have to have you know, Alabama gonna have to play bad. turnovers
Unknown Speaker
is a lot.
Unknown Speaker
But being a being
Unknown Speaker
on Saturday was the thing.
Unknown Speaker
And it’s a robbery.
Marvin Constant
So don’t be if you got any hope that you’re gonna win that game on Saturday. I mean, I got some huge lottery tickets for sale over here too. So Oh,
Unknown Speaker
man, I got some hope.
Unknown Speaker
You should have no hope
Unknown Speaker
being listened being
Marvin Constant
listen. After the lucky we Yeah. had last year. Out listening. It ain’t even gonna be close. I’m gonna give you my prediction right now. I’m going 52 to nothing.
Unknown Speaker
You sleep. My
Marvin Constant
god, I gotta go. I gotta go see the 221 I forgot about Pete gold.
Unknown Speaker
Apparently you say nothing or whatever you’ve been. You’ve been drinking in your book. Oh,
Marvin Constant
man, I forgot about our defensive coordinator. Man. The moment I got caught up in the moment, man.
Justin Riley
Hey, now this is a robbery man. You know, I know what we see on paper. Anything can happen any given day. So yeah, I mean, Ben you right, man? This is the arambol Records thrown out stat thrown out. Man. Some crazy things have happened. I agree with
Unknown Speaker
what happened this year.
Steve Brown
Hey, Ben. Hey, Ben. Uh, he don’t agree with you he just saying that to make the show look good. You don’t give a damn about what you’re saying. He just didn’t know y’all can get your asses beat. But he got to be the voice of reason. Justin, telling the truth man, come on. We just got here
Justin Riley
your true warrior man is sitting here all these boys let’s go ahead segue into prediction that of course logging is being played this weekend. But only one really matters and that’s why we’re here. So let’s go around the room get predictions Russia I will start with you. Ah,
Unknown Speaker
of course Alabama for when I think often score some points but our defense has been playing better as of late in three I mean, we failed Georgia 24. Tennessee to 17 Mississippi State zero Kentucky two three. A. So I’m gonna say score is gonna be I don’t think they’re gonna be at a stop or so. I’m gonna put us up at 50 to 70
Unknown Speaker
All right,
Steve Brown
Steve, what you got? Bama losing. upset. I’m just playing being psych.
Justin Riley
Steve that happens. You’re in my city this weekend. I will come find you. I got a chuckle but now after food.
Steve Brown
I got Bama winning, I would say I’m gonna score at least 40 I would say 4050 points. And O’Brien was score probably 21 because of P golden.
Marvin Constant
So I’m sticking in my 5221
Unknown Speaker
What about you, man?
Unknown Speaker
What’s the official like what I got to read like what’s When I
Unknown Speaker
got 24 points,
Unknown Speaker
it’s 24 right now. Yeah,
Justin Riley
it was 25 I thought,
Marvin Constant
Man it don’t matter what the spread is right
Unknown Speaker
now they said 13 and a half right here are two
Unknown Speaker
real far cuz it wasn’t 24 when it first came out Yeah.
Steve Brown
Somebody must have died What happened?
Unknown Speaker
I’m telling you I have no clue man.
Marvin Constant
Oh you’re on live now remember and people watching you make this prediction. So I dare word how you really see.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, man,
Unknown Speaker
I’m already through it through.
Unknown Speaker
I got around.
Justin Riley
I can’t fault you all that
Unknown Speaker
I got her. I would almost say all wrong wins. Oh,
Unknown Speaker
I gotta go. 30
Unknown Speaker
that’s all I’m about to say. 32 to 2908.
Unknown Speaker
But hey, hold
Unknown Speaker
on, hold on, hold on, hold
Justin Riley
on. Please pay to say that. That’s intense to me. I respect that real.
Steve Brown
Justin, Justin. Justin, listen, Justin. I may have to be realistic. The thing is with this game, and I agree with being not with our bird winning the game. I think that it’s going to be closer than people think Alabama’s going to have to out score armor. That means stopping nobody, right? I’m sorry. So that’s just what it is. Until we get Rashad Johnson. He has coordinates. We go people gonna score points. I’m making that call right now.
Justin Riley
Are you calling a flip phone bill Oliver.
Unknown Speaker
Wow.
Unknown Speaker
That one g
Steve Brown
one G and A G is? g lowercase
Unknown Speaker
g y’all ain’t Justin.
Justin Riley
Yes. He’s called us on a dial up right now. I got that American
Unknown Speaker
nights and weekends.
Steve Brown
Hey, man, all I gotta say to y’all is this.
Marvin Constant
You directed? Now? You started the movie.
Justin Riley
He’s got a Netflix. Special coming. Hi. Okay.
Unknown Speaker
Hi.
Justin Riley
Jason, what do you see? What’s your prediction?
Unknown Speaker
You know, I think it’s gonna be closer to what people think as well. I went to Justin, which I’m thinking BAM was gonna put up 42 to 49. I’m thinking Auburn 21 to 24 points are going to put up. So I think Auburn might cover the spread. Actually. I think it’s still 24 points. So I’m looking at it right now. It says 24. So I think it is 24. I think Auburn could cover the spread. But I think it’ll be close to be close.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, we’re going to it’s going to be close. Because it’s a rivalry game.
Unknown Speaker
Are we really going to make a prediction?
Unknown Speaker
And when I say close, when I say close, I’m talking about on close to making the spread, which I’m not talking about closing again. 2027 to 24. Alabama, still gonna beat him by 21 to 24 points. I think it’s gonna be close to Auburn, my cover spread. I think Alabama is gonna win, you know, by far. But I think I don’t think it’s gonna be 52 to seven or something like that. I think it’s gonna be more than 4942 to 2149 to 24 or something like that. You know,
Marvin Constant
50 to one in one.
Steve Brown
In I would say 50 to 70. We had a different defensive coordinator. But yeah, I would say 50 to the at least 30
Unknown Speaker
not 30. Not 30.
Unknown Speaker
All right, and we got home we are home to
Unknown Speaker
know it could get ugly.
Unknown Speaker
We are third is computer game,
Unknown Speaker
y’all. Y’all y’all score 30 points is definitely gonna be a ballgame. I just don’t.
Unknown Speaker
But even if you guys hit 30 I still think they’ll put a 49 I mean, that’s still like a nice, you know, 19 point spray right there. So I don’t know. I think it’d be closer than you know, than the I think around 2124 points spread. I think they got it right with the spread is probably right around there.
Unknown Speaker
So Justin, Justin, what’s your prediction?
Justin Riley
My prediction? Oh, There’s gonna be a lot closer to I mean, it’s a robbery. I feel like it’s gonna be a lot closer. Alabama 45 Auburn 31
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Wow.
Unknown Speaker
Wow.
Unknown Speaker
Wow,
Justin Riley
I feel like it’s gonna be closer to experts think for a while, and Alabama will pull away towards the later part of the game. It’s just a robbery game. Anything can happen and I’ve seen anything that happened. So I just got fetlock offers on coming up with a fight. They always do and their quarterback always seems to show up when you least expect it, especially in a big game like this.
Unknown Speaker
So what about our defense?
Justin Riley
Well, our defense I feel like at some point,
Unknown Speaker
I think they’re gonna be fine. I think they run away, man.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, so are you? Are you gonna be fine? You’re gonna be Russia and you’re gonna be coaching. That’s always gonna be bad.
Unknown Speaker
I got to stay in the house. Man. I tested positive for COVID today, I ain’t going nowhere.
Justin Riley
He’s gonna be streaming in the calls and from his basement there.
Unknown Speaker
The war room?
Steve Brown
Yeah, amen. Amen. Listen. You know, you, you get yourself together now. Michelle, I
Unknown Speaker
feel fine man right now. So that’s all the matters longest? My mother in law, don’t get it upstairs and I stay in the basement would be I
Steve Brown
okay, well, I do it. I’m suffering. I’m suffering. I’m constipated.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah,
Justin Riley
I thought we’re about to have one of those game day moments where they tell us stories that make you cry on Saturday, man.
Alright, guys, before we head out just a few notes. Marvin, tell us how the books going. Tell us some good things, what you’re here and what you’re saying. I’m seeing your Instagram a lot of great things happening for the people that you’ve got on board.
Marvin Constant
Book is doing what the book does, you know, again, the numbers have been solid on the book. One of the things that I’ve been getting from people in terms of feedback, people want to see more videos about workouts and things that they can do at home. So for all of you been asking for extra content. I’m gonna give you what you’ve been asking for. It’s coming real soon. A
Justin Riley
couple of program alerts. If you follow the sports cast on Monday night’s Tyler Turner show at 9pm Central 10pm. Eastern for in depth analysis and talent evaluation. Thursday nights the Jones and a roadshow show two guys from Jersey talking about whatever they feel like talking about sports related. Check that out. Marvin, what do you got for us next week as far as gifts go?
Unknown Speaker
Hmm.
Unknown Speaker
What’s that mean? He ain’t got no guests yet.
Marvin Constant
We gotta go on Saturday.
Justin Riley
Please bring up Bruce. Bruce. That’s what we have next week.
Unknown Speaker
Hey.
Unknown Speaker
I’ll come back and talk.
Unknown Speaker
I’m sorry. Right.
Unknown Speaker
I’ll tell you what.
Marvin Constant
I’ll be seeing being next week. Man, you
Justin Riley
have the open invitation. If that happens to come on. I’ll give you the floor and you do it all this
Steve Brown
way. That’s what’s up. I got some coming up. I just took two of those blue pills from the gas station. So I got some coming up real
Marvin Constant
funny story real quick. Right.
Unknown Speaker
Here we go.
Unknown Speaker
Let me go
Marvin Constant
to gas station. So you know my you know, my cousin sticker boys. Right. Right, DJ. So we was on a tailgate a few years ago out of the Georgia Dome. And sticker bush was DJ so his SUV was that one my homeboy angle kovno name. He was he wrote with us to the tailgate and we’re sticking with call. He dropped some packets. He’s pocket sticker bush white flags the packets A few days later. what it was was a pack of African viagara from some gas station. A boy’s got me with his wife on the phone.
Steve Brown
Oh god. Hey, how it really works. It really works.
Marvin Constant
I had my boy he tried to give me so I was like, man, listen, I’m not dealing with your viagara you bought from the quickie Mart over here?
Steve Brown
Hey, let me find out. Let me find out. You’ve been pumping let me find out more. Let me find out.
Marvin Constant
Hey man, I workout on the.it let me
Justin Riley
come on, works that out or work something out.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Let’s go ahead and muscle Marvin’s muscles. Oh Ha, no, bro.
Unknown Speaker
No, I’m just beginning.
Marvin Constant
But before we get out of here, I want to say thank you to being into draw. No doubt being you know, I want to say something that a lot of people out there take this to heart and and listen, people always talk about these rivalries and how the fans I’ve seen with fans and shot each other cuter stab each other. You know, we get as rivalry. But the thing about it though, a lot of times these players man I gotta say to other schools. We’re good friends. You know, it’s just that one game that wants that game is over with your friends. It’s never that serious to where you got to cause physical harm somebody behind the game. So I just want to thank Ben for taking the time to spend with us. Because I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. And again, man, the players, they only take you serious for that little bit of time. They don’t feel when it’s over. It’s over. So be smart. Be reasonable. We got another one on COVID we’ll need nobody to hit home each other behind the score. That’s the last thing we need. So thank you again being
Justin Riley
Well, that was beautiful and everything that Ben
Unknown Speaker
it really was. No,
Justin Riley
no. No, but you absolutely right man. Absolutely. Right. I mean it’s all fun. That way no doubt. Real quick. Let’s go around the room real quick. See this? tell what’s going on next for you guys how we can reach you on social media. All that good stuff, Rashad. If you would give us a little bit about your show. Y’all hadn’t heard a show or watch the show yet. It’s amazing. So on Saturday mornings is definitely the way to get your game day started.
Marvin Constant
Yeah, shot so when am I gonna be on this show?
Unknown Speaker
Whenever you ready code, let me know. You’re ready. We’ll go to Saturday. We’ll pull you in and Saturday. Oh, I so yeah, man, Dr. Powers, he just left all one guy. We do a show called secondary perspective. So we’ve partnered up together you know back in, we played in a secondary together. So we kind of just give our take on on sports in some life stuff every now and then. But we’re gonna dive in and start doing a little more here and there. You can catch us out on all platforms. Secondary perspective, you can catch up the podcast, but we do a visual on facebook, facebook live, every Saturday morning, we run in through all the SEC games, taking feedback from the fans, and we go through the NFL games as well. So just talking ball and you know, bringing some light to your days on Saturdays right now shot
Steve Brown
shot, shot shot. Listen, man, if you want your show to last, do not invite Marvin constant. He don’t come on. But Nick. I know Mark. No.
Unknown Speaker
Don’t do it. He goes
Unknown Speaker
on Saturday. Maybe next Saturday, Marvin, we got
Marvin Constant
to see man, I need to tidy Why does my hamstrings keep in football?
Justin Riley
It’s moved to you, man I’ve talked about a couple times throughout the show. Tell us what’s going on this week for you. You’re my hometown for one. But go ahead and give us the news and tell us what’s going on your other show. Yeah, we talk like this.
Steve Brown
Yeah, I’ll be in Jackson, Mississippi, thanksgiving night and all weekend. So to somebody that knows might know somebody with a car to come to chuckles comedy house. I’ll be there all weekend. doing really well. And I’m looking forward to I’ll be my second time back. I also have my own show called the Yale we talk like this show. In when I mean when I mean we really talk like that. Yes, we talk about a lot of stuff people are afraid to talk about. And it’s it’s it’s a very, very funny show. So yeah, check it out on YouTube. Yeah, we talked like this show. Make sure you subscribe. hit the bell for notifications. We dropped an episode every Monday night. So yeah, check that out.
Justin Riley
All right, Jason, how about you what you got going on next talk me upon you on social media, all that good stuff.
Unknown Speaker
You know, for me, I’ve transitioned I’ve transitioned from the life of football into the medical field. So I’m a pharmacist now. And
Unknown Speaker
doctor Academy. That’s why we do work.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah,
Unknown Speaker
you know what it is? So yeah, you know, I’ve transitioned into the medical field. You know, I’ve always wanted to help people. You know, I was one of the things I loved about the NFL is every Tuesday, off day, we’re always out in the community doing some sort of community service, whether it’s talking to kids at school, going to children’s hospitals, you know, just any opportunity. So, I mean, I’m in the healthcare field so I’m on the front lines as a pharmacist, so I’d recommend is got make sure you’re washing hands social distance in and stay safe out there, man.
Steve Brown
Well, what Jason so since you’re a pharmacist, what what do you have to leave my car
Unknown Speaker
and you need some cold laces what you need, you need a stool softener, and a laxative.
Steve Brown
Thank you.
Justin Riley
As a fan, Jason Rashad actually had your rookie cards from the NFL. How can I go about getting those sign? Yeah. Me.
Unknown Speaker
You say rookie cards? Yo, yo, yo, yo,
Unknown Speaker
yo, is crazy. I still I still get cards sent to my house. Oh, yeah, people will still send cars and I’m sure wish I get some to still still want you know, sign. I’m gonna say it again. Your biggest fan? I’m like, man, I ain’t played for like eight years. Like, you know.
Steve Brown
Nothing. Just asked the car sending my house to but it’d be dumb cars when you run a stop sign and it keeps your license.
Justin Riley
No as Alabama guys, you know, to the fans in a fans perspective. Y’all don’t matter when you played man. Your legacy never burns out. It’s always a big deal. You always mean a lot to us. So yeah, I mean, I get the job been going for a minute, but for us fans, man, we can recall everything like it just happened.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. No, absolutely, man. Just I shoot you, Marja. You send it to me. I’ll sign it and send it back.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, my address. I
Unknown Speaker
got your number saltex.
Justin Riley
Sweet. All right. Good deal.
Steve Brown
No matter what.
Marvin Constant
Nobody wants you to sign a copy of your inmate ID card.
Unknown Speaker
Hey, thanks for coming on the show. We appreciate y’all.
Unknown Speaker
Thanks, man.
Justin Riley
Thank you all for coming on. We really appreciate this, especially this week, the biggest week of all glad to have you guys with us for that. So yeah, thanks again, guys.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, thank you. Have a good one.
Unknown Speaker
Alright, see ya roads.
