Liverpool’s winger Luis Diaz is expected to be sidelined for around three months after having surgery on his knee, manager Jurgen Klopp said in a press conference.
The Colombian forward had to fly back from Liverpool’s training camp in Dubai at the end of last week. He had only recently returned to training with Jurgen Klopp’s squad after being sidelined since October but complained of discomfort in the same area.
Diaz, 25, has now had surgery on his lateral collateral ligament and is unlikely to play again before March.
Klopp said: “He was not in the best possible place. It’s clear it’s a big disappointment for all of us, for him as well.
“Yeah, then the news came and it was a proper smash in the face. But that’s it now.”
