Manchester United advanced to the last 16 of the Europa League at Barcelona’s expense on Thursday, bouncing the Catalan side out of the competition after a gripping two-legged tie in the knockout playoffs.
An early Robert Lewandowski penalty gave Barca the lead in the second leg at Old Trafford, but the home side fought back after the interval to claim a rousing 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Fred and substitute Antony.
United, 4-3 winners on aggregate, will find out their last-16 opponents when the draw for the next round is conducted on Friday.
