Cristiano Ronaldo became the first male player to reach 200 international caps after starting and scoring the winner in Portugal’s 1-0 Euro 2024 qualification victory over Iceland on Tuesday.
It’s yet another milestone to add to the 38-year-old’s long list of individual feats. He was already the top-scoring player in the history of men’s international football before he added the 123rd goal to his collection via a late tap-in in Reykjavik.
“I don’t follow the records, they follow me,” Ronaldo said during Monday’s pre-match press conference, according to ESPN’s Adriana Garcia.
