Wemby Confronts Controversy: Spurs Security Accused of Assaulting Britney Spears
San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama said Thursday he believes Britney Spears grabbed him from behind as he was walking into a restaurant at a Las Vegas casino, and that the security detail he was with pushed the pop star away.

Wembanyama said he wasn’t told that Spears was the person who grabbed him until hours later, and that he never actually saw her.

Spears, who filed a report with Las Vegas police, said in posts on Twitter and Instagram that the run-in was “super embarrassing,” and denied grabbing Wembanyama, saying she only “tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.”

She said she had recognized him earlier in the evening and when seeing the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA draft — a 7-foot-3 French standout who is entering the NBA with as much acclaim as anyone since LeBron James 20 years ago — and she “decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success.”

NBA’s Hawks Secure Future with Murray’s Lucrative Contract Extension
The Atlanta Hawks are finalizing a four-year, $120-million veteran maximum extension with guard Dejounte Murray, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Celtics trading Grant Williams to Mavs
The Boston Celtics are finalizing a three-team deal that’ll send forward Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Williams, a restricted free agent, will pen a four-year, $53-million contract as part of a sign-and-trade agreement to join the Mavericks, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The San Antonio Spurs will reportedly receive Mavericks wing Reggie Bullock and the right to swap picks with Dallas in 2030 as a part of the deal.

Blazers RFA Matisse Thybulle to sign 3-year offer sheet with Mavs in $33M range
Restricted free agent Matisse Thybulle will sign a three-year offer sheet worth about $33 million with the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Thybulle’s previous team, the Portland Trail Blazers, will have a chance to match the terms.

The two-time All-Defensive second-team member was dealt from the Philadelphia 76ers to Portland at last season’s trade deadline. He averaged 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 22 games for his new squad.
