Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. hit his 30th homer of the campaign thanks to a long grand slam in the second inning Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Having already reached 60 stolen bases Monday, the four-time All-Star became the first player in MLB history to record a 30-homer, 60-steal campaign and the third to post a 30-50 season, joining Barry Bonds and Eric Davis.
Prior to Acuña’s historic feat, the most homers with 60-plus steals in a single season was by Rickey Henderson when he hit 28 long balls in 1986 while playing for the New York Yankees and in 1990 with the Oakland Athletics.
The 25-year-old outfielder is one of the favorites to win NL MVP on a Braves club pacing the majors with 88 wins heading into September.
