Trey Murphy III will be cleared to return to basketball activities in 10-12 weeks after suffering a partially torn meniscus, the New Orleans Pelicans announced Thursday.
Murphy underwent a partial meniscectomy and received a biologic injection in his left knee after he reportedly sustained the injury during a workout Tuesday.
The 23-year-old averaged 14.5 points during his standout sophomore season, which represented an increase of nearly 10 per game. He also showed off range from deep, making 2.6 threes per contest while shooting 40.6% percent beyond the arc.
