New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Domínguez will undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday and is expected to miss 9-10 months, manager Aaron Boone announced, according to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch.
“It’s definitely very shocking news,” Domínguez said recently after he was diagnosed with a torn UCL, per Hoch. “You’re never expecting for this to be the result. Now, understanding what happened, we have to look forward and go through it.”
Domínguez burst onto the scene after making his major-league debut on Sept. 1. The 20-year-old became the youngest player in Yankees history to homer in their MLB debut after he took Houston Astros right-hander Justin Verlander deep.
