The NFL is investigating why the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t list Joe Burrow on their injury report when the team posted a photo of the quarterback wearing a device on his wrist Wednesday night, the league confirmed Friday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Bengals posted a picture of Burrow wearing a device that appeared to be a soft cast on his thumb. The post was later deleted, Schefter reports.
Burrow wasn’t listed on the team’s Week 11 injury report prior to Thursday’s matchup.
Burrow said that he was wearing a compression sleeve on his wrist during the team’s flight to Baltimore and that it had “nothing to do” with the torn ligament, per ESPN’s Ben Baby.
Head coach Zac Taylor said he was unaware of a wrist ailment prior to kickoff.
Taylor later said that the wrist wrap Burrow was wearing on the plane was completely unrelated to his season-ending injury, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports.
