Clippers, Kawhi Leonard agree to reported 3-year, $152M contract

The Los Angeles Clippers and forward Kawhi Leonard agreed on a three-year, $152.4-million contract extension Wednesday, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The extension pays the 32-year-old star $52 million next season and approximately $50 million in each of the following two campaigns, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, citing sources.

“(Kawhi) elevated our franchise from the moment he arrived. We feel fortunate that Kawhi chose to join the Clippers five years ago,” Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said in a statement. The team didn’t officially disclose the terms of the deal.

Leonard is on track to play over 60 games for the first time in a Clippers uniform. The five-time All-Star has appeared in 32 of L.A.’s 36 games so far this season.
