New York Jets Head coach Robert Saleh said their starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers won’t play in the team’s first two preseason games, according to SNY. The team has yet to decide if Rodgers will play in the third and final preseason game, but Saleh didn’t sound too optimistic.
“My instinct is no,” he told reporters Tuesday.
Rodgers tore his Achilles on the fourth play of his Jets debut in the 2023 season opener against the Buffalo Bills and missed the remainder of the campaign. He said earlier in July ahead of training camp that his Achilles “feels good” and “felt really good at the end of last year.”
The four-time NFL MVP played in one game in the 2023 preseason, completing 5 of 8 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown.
