The upcoming 2024/25 UEFA Champions League draw will break tradition as it will be conducted entirely by a computer. This decision was made to streamline the process and avoid the logistical challenges associated with the new format.
In a typical draw, nearly 1000 balls would have been used, with at least 36 bowls on stage to accommodate all the potential outcomes. Such a setup would have been not only cumbersome but also time-consuming. By leveraging automated software, the draw will be conducted more efficiently. The software will randomly assign eight opponents across the four pots for each team, ensuring a fair and swift process.
The draw is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 29, marking a new chapter in the history of the competition. The use of technology in this year’s draw reflects a move towards modernization and efficiency in the organization of one of the world’s most prestigious football tournaments.
