Is Najee Harris Being Linked to the New York Giants? Here’s What We Know

Posted on July 30, 2026July 30, 2026 by Santiago Leon

Najee Harris has recently emerged as a name connected to the New York Giants, but fans should understand that the rumors are currently based on analyst speculation rather than insider reporting.

Several NFL analysts have identified Harris as a potential fit for the Giants if the team decides to add another experienced running back. However, there have been no credible reports indicating that New York has entered negotiations or is actively pursuing the former first-round pick.

Why Are the Giants Being Linked to Najee Harris?

The connection stems largely from Harris’ playing style and how it could fit within the Giants’ offensive philosophy.

Harris has built a reputation as a physical, downhill runner capable of handling a heavy workload. His ability to grind out tough yards between the tackles has led some analysts to suggest he could complement New York’s offense, particularly in short-yardage and goal-line situations.

The Giants have also emphasized building a balanced offense, making Harris an intriguing theoretical addition should the team decide it needs more veteran experience in the backfield.

Giants Already Have Running Back Depth

One reason many analysts remain skeptical about the possibility of a signing is New York’s current running back room.

The Giants already feature several capable backs, including:

  • Cam Skattebo
  • Tyrone Tracy Jr.
  • Devin Singletary

With multiple contributors already under contract, adding another veteran could create a crowded depth chart unless the organization decides to move on from one of its current options.

Najee Harris’ Injury Could Be a Factor

Another reason teams may proceed cautiously is Harris’ recovery from a torn Achilles suffered during the 2025 season.

Although Harris has previously demonstrated durability throughout his NFL career, an Achilles injury is among the most challenging recoveries for running backs. Teams will likely evaluate his medical progress carefully before considering a contract.

Why Harris Still Appeals to NFL Teams

Despite the injury concerns, Harris remains an attractive option because of his resume.

Before suffering the injury, he established himself as one of the league’s more dependable workhorse backs by posting four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons while consistently handling a significant workload.

His combination of size, power, pass protection, and experience could make him an appealing veteran addition for teams seeking depth or insurance at running back.

Is There Any Credible Reporting Connecting Harris to the Giants?

At this time, no.

The current discussion surrounding Harris and the Giants originates from opinion pieces, roster projections, and analyst-generated free-agent fits rather than reports from NFL insiders or Giants beat reporters.

While New York has been mentioned as a logical destination, there is currently no evidence that the Giants are negotiating with Harris or preparing to sign him.

Could the Giants Eventually Pursue Harris?

That possibility cannot be completely ruled out.

If injuries occur during training camp or preseason, or if New York decides to make changes to its running back depth chart, Harris could become an option later in the season.

Veteran free agents often remain available until teams identify roster needs after preseason evaluations.

Final Thoughts

Najee Harris has certainly become a popular name in discussions involving the New York Giants, but those links remain speculative. While his physical running style and experience make him an interesting fit on paper, there is currently no credible indication that the Giants are actively pursuing him.

For now, the rumors should be viewed as analyst projections rather than legitimate NFL trade or free-agent reports. Unless new reporting emerges, Harris remains simply one of several veteran running backs who could become an option if New York’s roster needs change.
