How Many USA-Born Players Are Competing in the 2026–27 Premier League?

Posted on August 21, 2026August 21, 2026 by Santiago Leon

Seven players born in the United States are on Premier League rosters for the 2026–27 season. The group includes established USMNT stars such as Tyler Adams and Chris Richards, along with several promising young Americans hoping to establish themselves in England’s top flight.

Here is the complete list of USA-born players competing in the 2026–27 Premier League:

  1. Tyler Adams — AFC Bournemouth
  2. Brenden Aaronson — Leeds United
  3. Chris Richards — Crystal Palace
  4. Haji Wright — Coventry City
  5. Gabriel “Gaga” Slonina — Chelsea
  6. Caleb Wiley — Chelsea
  7. Zavier Gozo — Crystal Palace

The count is based strictly on birthplace rather than international allegiance. Players eligible to represent the United States but born outside the country are therefore not included.

Tyler Adams — AFC Bournemouth

Born in Wappingers Falls, New York, Tyler Adams is one of the most recognizable American players in the Premier League.

The versatile midfielder is valued for his defensive awareness, pressing and ability to cover ground in the center of the pitch. Adams also brings extensive international experience from his time with the United States men’s national team.

Brenden Aaronson — Leeds United

Brenden Aaronson was born in Medford, New Jersey, and represents Leeds United in the 2026–27 Premier League.

An energetic attacking midfielder, Aaronson can operate centrally or from wider positions. His movement, work rate and willingness to press make him a useful option in a fast-paced system.

Chris Richards — Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace defender Chris Richards was born in Birmingham, Alabama.

Richards has developed into an important American presence in English soccer. Comfortable at center back and capable of contributing in multiple defensive roles, he combines athleticism with experience gained in both England and Germany.

Haji Wright — Coventry City

Born in Los Angeles, California, Haji Wright enters the Premier League with Coventry City.

The forward offers size, pace and positional flexibility across the attacking line. His presence in the league also gives American supporters another USMNT attacker to follow during the 2026–27 campaign.

Gaga Slonina — Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel “Gaga” Slonina was born in Addison, Illinois.

Slonina has long been regarded as one of the most promising American goalkeepers of his generation. Although competition for playing time at Chelsea is considerable, his inclusion on the club’s roster gives him an opportunity to continue developing in a demanding environment.

Caleb Wiley — Chelsea

Atlanta-born defender Caleb Wiley is another USA-born player on Chelsea’s roster.

Primarily a left back, Wiley is known for his speed and ability to contribute at both ends of the field. The 2026–27 season could provide an important opportunity for him to strengthen his case for a regular role at the highest level.

Zavier Gozo — Crystal Palace

Zavier Gozo, born in Eagle Mountain, Utah, is one of the youngest American-born players associated with a Premier League roster in 2026–27.

The Crystal Palace prospect adds another name to the growing list of players who have moved from the American development system into elite European soccer.

Why American Representation in the Premier League Matters

The presence of seven USA-born players reflects the continued development of American soccer talent.

English clubs increasingly scout players who emerge from Major League Soccer academies, independent youth programs and the U.S. national-team system. For young Americans, the Premier League represents both a major opportunity and an exceptionally difficult competitive environment.

The group also demonstrates the different pathways available to U.S.-born players. Some established themselves in Major League Soccer before moving abroad, while others entered European academy systems earlier in their careers.

Are All USMNT Players in the Premier League Included?

No. This list counts only players who were born in the United States.

A player may represent the USMNT through citizenship or family eligibility despite being born in another country. Those players are not included in the total. Likewise, being born in the United States does not necessarily mean a player represents the United States internationally.

This distinction explains why the number of American internationals in the Premier League may differ from the number of players born in the USA.

The Final Count

There are seven USA-born players competing in the 2026–27 Premier League as of August 21, 2026.

Chelsea and Crystal Palace each have two players on the list, while AFC Bournemouth, Leeds United and Coventry City each have one.

Because transfers, loans and squad registrations can change during the season, the total may be updated as clubs revise their rosters.
