Case Keenum has been around the NFL for more than a decade, but it has been quite some time since the veteran quarterback appeared in a regular-season game.
When Did Case Keenum Last Play in an NFL Regular-Season Game?
Case Keenum’s most recent NFL regular-season appearance came on December 24, 2023, when he started for the Houston Texans against the Cleveland Browns.
Houston lost the game 36-22 at NRG Stadium.
Keenum started because rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud was unavailable due to a concussion. Keenum completed 11 of 17 passes for 62 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions before the Texans turned to Davis Mills.
That remains Keenum’s most recent regular-season NFL appearance.
What Happened to Case Keenum After 2023?
Keenum remained with the Texans for the 2024 season but suffered a foot injury that landed him on injured reserve, preventing him from appearing in a regular-season game.
The veteran quarterback later continued his NFL career, showing that his lengthy run in the league was not necessarily finished despite the extended gap between regular-season appearances.
Case Keenum’s NFL Career
Keenum entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Houston in 2012 and has developed into one of the league’s most experienced journeyman quarterbacks.
His NFL career has included stops with the Houston Texans, St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills, among others.
Keenum is perhaps best remembered for his time with the Vikings during the 2017 season.
He helped Minnesota reach the NFC Championship Game and was the quarterback behind the famous “Minneapolis Miracle,” when Stefon Diggs caught a last-second touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional Round.
Has Case Keenum Played Since 2023?
Keenum has participated in NFL preseason action since his last regular-season appearance, but preseason games are not counted as official regular-season appearances.
Therefore, when discussing the last time Keenum played in an NFL regular-season game, the answer remains December 24, 2023, for the Houston Texans against the Cleveland Browns.
How Long Has It Been Since Case Keenum Played in the Regular Season?
As of September 23, 2026, Keenum has gone nearly three years without appearing in an NFL regular-season game.
That long absence makes his experience particularly notable if he is called upon again. Few quarterbacks remain in the league for as long as Keenum has while continuing to provide veteran depth and experience.
