Ricky Martin has once again become part of the NFL entertainment spotlight, raising an intriguing question ahead of Super Bowl LXI: Could Ricky Martin headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show at SoFi Stadium?
As of September 28, 2026, the NFL has not officially announced the Super Bowl LXI halftime show headliner. However, Martin’s recent appearances at major NFL events make him a notable name to watch as speculation builds toward the league’s announcement.
When and Where Is Super Bowl LXI?
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.
The game will bring the Super Bowl back to the Los Angeles area five years after SoFi Stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI in February 2022.
One of the biggest unanswered questions surrounding Super Bowl LXI is who will perform during the halftime show.
Could Ricky Martin Perform at the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show?
There is currently no official confirmation that Ricky Martin will headline Super Bowl LXI.
Still, there are reasons his name could enter the conversation.
Martin has recently developed a highly visible relationship with NFL entertainment. He appeared during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show in February 2026, putting him on the Super Bowl stage shortly before preparations began for the following season.
Martin then continued his NFL involvement in September 2026.
Ricky Martin Performs at Cowboys vs. Ravens in Brazil
On September 27, 2026, Ricky Martin joined Brazilian DJ Pedro Sampaio for the halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens NFL game in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The international game was played at the iconic Maracanã Stadium, giving Martin another prominent NFL performance in front of a global audience.
His appearance in Rio came only months after participating in Super Bowl LX, meaning Martin has now been featured at multiple major NFL entertainment events during 2026.
That doesn’t mean another Super Bowl appearance is coming, but it provides a reasonable basis for speculation.
Ricky Martin Has the Catalog for a Super Bowl Halftime Show
Martin has been one of the world’s most recognizable Latin pop performers for decades.
His catalog includes internationally recognized songs such as:
- “Livin’ la Vida Loca”
- “She Bangs”
- “The Cup of Life”
- “Shake Your Bon-Bon”
- “La Mordidita”
- “Vente Pa’ Ca”
“The Cup of Life” would also provide an obvious connection between Martin’s music and a major sporting event. The song became internationally famous after serving as the official song of the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
Martin’s combination of English- and Spanish-language hits could give an NFL halftime production considerable flexibility for an international audience.
Ricky Martin’s NFL Connection Is Growing
The timing of Martin’s recent NFL appearances is particularly interesting.
Within the same year, Martin has:
- Appeared during the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
- Performed at the NFL’s international game in Rio de Janeiro.
- Remained one of the most internationally recognizable Latin music performers.
Those appearances do not establish that Martin is being considered for Super Bowl LXI, but they demonstrate that the NFL has recently featured him at some of its largest entertainment events.
Who Will Perform at Super Bowl LXI?
For now, the Super Bowl LXI halftime performer remains unconfirmed.
Several major artists are likely to generate speculation until the NFL and its entertainment partners make an official announcement.
The league typically creates significant anticipation around its halftime announcement, and whoever receives the 2027 assignment will perform on one of the largest stages in global entertainment.
Could Ricky Martin Headline Super Bowl LXI?
Ricky Martin certainly has the career résumé and worldwide recognition required for a Super Bowl halftime performance.
His recent appearances during Super Bowl LX and the 2026 NFL Rio game make the possibility particularly interesting heading toward Super Bowl LXI.
However, fans should distinguish speculation from confirmed information.
As of September 28, 2026, Ricky Martin has not been announced as the Super Bowl LXI halftime show headliner.
Until the NFL makes its official announcement, Martin remains one of many possible names that could be discussed for the show at SoFi Stadium.
