The 2026 China Open is set to bring some of the biggest names in professional tennis to Beijing as the ATP and WTA tours enter an important stretch of the fall hard-court season.
The tournament will take place in Beijing, China, beginning September 30, 2026, with the men’s and women’s competitions overlapping at the China National Tennis Center.

- ATP China Open: September 30–October 6, 2026
- WTA China Open: September 30–October 11, 2026
- WTA qualifying: September 28–29, 2026

The expanded women’s tournament continues beyond the men’s event, with the WTA main draw beginning September 30. The WTA event features a 96-player singles field and is one of the final WTA 1000 tournaments of the season.
Where Is the China Open Played?
The 2026 China Open is held in Beijing, China, at the China National Tennis Center.
The tournament is played on outdoor hard courts and is one of the biggest annual professional tennis events held in China.
Its centerpiece is Diamond Court, the main stadium used for many of the tournament’s biggest matches.
Is the China Open an ATP or WTA Tournament?
It’s both.
On the men’s side, the China Open is an ATP 500 tournament, making it an important opportunity for players to earn ranking points ahead of the final portion of the ATP season.
On the women’s side, Beijing hosts a WTA 1000 tournament, placing it among the most significant events on the WTA calendar outside the four Grand Slams and WTA Finals.
Which Players Are Expected at the 2026 China Open?
The men’s entry list features several of the biggest names in tennis, including Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Alex de Minaur and Daniil Medvedev.
Djokovic’s planned return is particularly notable. The six-time Beijing champion owns a 29-0 career record at the tournament and is set to make his first China Open appearance since 2015.
The women’s tournament also features a deep field, with stars including Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Coco Gauff, Mirra Andreeva, Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka among the players entered.
There have already been several notable withdrawals. Jessica Pegula and defending champion Amanda Anisimova have withdrawn because of injuries, along with Marta Kostyuk and Sorana Cirstea.
Why Is the China Open Important?
The China Open arrives during a critical part of the tennis calendar.
For ATP players, Beijing leads directly into the Shanghai Masters, which begins October 7. Players are also competing for valuable ranking points as the race toward the season-ending ATP Finals intensifies.
For the WTA field, Beijing is one of the season’s biggest remaining opportunities to collect ranking points before the WTA Finals.
That combination traditionally gives the China Open one of the strongest fields of any tournament played after the US Open.
