2026 Baycurrent Classic Odds: Xander Schauffele Favored at +900 to Defend Title in Japan

Posted on October 5, 2026October 5, 2026 by Santiago Leon

Opening odds for the 2026 Baycurrent Classic list defending champion Xander Schauffele as the clear favorite at +900 on BetMGM, according to figures shared by golf analyst Jason Sobel. The PGA Tour’s third FedEx Cup Fall event returns to Yokohama Country Club in Japan from October 8-11, offering an $8 million purse, a $1.44 million winner’s share, and 500 FedExCup points in a 72-player, no-cut field.

Baycurrent Classic Opening Odds

Sobel’s posted BetMGM lines place Schauffele well clear of the rest of the market:

  • Xander Schauffele +900
  • Collin Morikawa +1600
  • Hideki Matsuyama +1600
  • Wyndham Clark +1600
  • Jacob Bridgeman +2000
  • Justin Thomas +2200
  • Doug Ghim +2200
  • Michael Brennan +2200
  • Adam Scott +2500
  • Min Woo Lee +2500
  • Ryan Gerard +2500

Comparable markets have shown similar pricing, with Schauffele generally in the +900 to +930 range and Matsuyama, Clark, and Morikawa clustered just behind him. The reduced field and guaranteed four rounds help draw established names to Asia, which keeps the top of the board tighter than many late-season events.

Tournament Details and Format

The Baycurrent Classic is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and Japan Golf Tour and is played at Yokohama Country Club (par 71, roughly 7,300 yards). It is the third of eight FedEx Cup Fall tournaments and the first of several consecutive events staged outside the United States. Because it is an invitational with no cut, players who travel to Japan are assured of completing all 72 holes.

Schauffele won the 2025 edition by one stroke over Max Greyserman, closing with a 64 to reach 19 under par for his 10th PGA Tour title. He returns after contributing to the U.S. victory at the Presidents Cup. Tom Kim, initially in the field, withdrew after winning gold at the Asian Games and earning a military-service exemption; he was replaced in the lineup.

Key Contenders Beyond the Favorite

Hideki Matsuyama is a natural focal point for the home crowd. The 2021 Masters champion has previous success in this event (including a win when it was staged under different sponsorship) and has stayed consistent through the season. Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark both sit at +1600 on the posted opening odds and bring major-championship credentials plus recent form that supports shorter prices in a limited field.

Further down the board, Jacob Bridgeman (+2000) arrives with strong late-season results, while Justin Thomas, Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee, and rising players such as Michael Brennan and Ryan Gerard offer longer odds that still reflect legitimate chances in a no-cut setup. The presence of multiple top-30 Official World Golf Ranking players makes this one of the stronger fields of the FedEx Cup Fall.

Course and Historical Context

Yokohama Country Club hosts the event for a second straight year after the tournament moved from its previous Japanese venue. Last year’s scoring was aided by scrambling and solid approach play; Schauffele’s winning total of 19 under remains the benchmark. Earlier winners of the event (previously known as the Zozo Championship) include Tiger Woods (2019), Hideki Matsuyama (2021), Keegan Bradley (2022), and Collin Morikawa (2023), underscoring that both established stars and occasional longer-priced players have succeeded.

Bettors following the Baycurrent Classic odds will watch how Schauffele’s recent form and course familiarity translate against a home favorite in Matsuyama and a cluster of major winners priced between +1600 and +2500. With the no-cut format and solid purse, the leaderboard is expected to feature several of the names near the top of the opening market throughout the week.
