The first four weeks of the 2026 NFL season have already created a significant divide between the league’s best and worst offensive lines when it comes to protecting the quarterback.
Through Week 4, the San Francisco 49ers have allowed zero sacks, the best mark in the NFL. At the opposite end of the rankings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have surrendered a league-high 16 sacks.

49ers Have Not Allowed a Sack Through Four Weeks
The biggest number on the list is actually a zero.
Through the first four weeks of the 2026 NFL season, San Francisco has not surrendered a sack. No other team is particularly close, with Denver, Las Vegas and Washington tied for second after allowing five sacks apiece.
Keeping a quarterback clean can dramatically improve an offense’s ability to stay on schedule, avoid long-yardage situations and limit turnovers created by pressure.
Broncos, Raiders and Commanders Among NFL’s Best
Behind San Francisco, the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders have each allowed five sacks.
The Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans are next with six each. That means nine NFL teams have surrendered six or fewer sacks through Week 4.
Buccaneers Have Allowed the Most Sacks
Tampa Bay sits at the other end of the rankings.
The Buccaneers have allowed 16 sacks, three more than the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers, who are tied for 30th with 13.
The Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles have each given up 12 sacks.
Why Sacks Allowed Matter
Sacks allowed aren’t solely an offensive-line statistic. Quarterback decision-making, offensive scheme, receiver separation, protection calls and the strength of opposing pass rushes can all influence sack totals.
Still, the statistic provides an important snapshot of how effectively an offense has protected its quarterback through the opening portion of the season.
The gap is already substantial. San Francisco sits at zero sacks allowed compared with Tampa Bay’s 16, a difference of four sacks per game through four weeks.
NFL Teams With the Fewest Sacks Allowed
- San Francisco 49ers — 0
- Denver Broncos — 5
- Las Vegas Raiders — 5
- Washington Commanders — 5
- Dallas Cowboys — 6
- Kansas City Chiefs — 6
- Los Angeles Rams — 6
- Seattle Seahawks — 6
- Tennessee Titans — 6
As the 2026 NFL season progresses, pass protection will be an important statistic to watch. The 49ers have established an extraordinary early benchmark, while teams near the bottom of the rankings will look to reduce the pressure their quarterbacks are facing.
