Cam Jurgens Injury Update: Ravens Center Out vs. Falcons, Expected Debut Next Week vs. Browns

Posted on October 11, 2026October 11, 2026 by Santiago Leon

New Baltimore Ravens center Cam Jurgens will miss Sunday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons due to a concussion, but he is expected to make his Ravens debut the following week at the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The update comes days after the Ravens acquired the two-time Pro Bowl center from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade that addressed one of Baltimore’s most urgent roster needs.

Cam Jurgens Ruled Out for Ravens vs. Falcons

Jurgens entered the NFL’s concussion protocol after his final game with the Eagles and has not practiced since the trade. As a result, he will not play in Baltimore’s Week 5 road game against Atlanta on Sunday night.

Rookie first-round pick Vega Ioane is expected to start at center once again. Ioane, drafted as a guard, has filled in effectively at the pivot after a wave of injuries depleted the position. Lamar Jackson is also out with an ankle injury, so Tyler Huntley will start at quarterback against the Falcons.

How the Ravens Landed Cam Jurgens

On October 7, the Ravens acquired Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Eagles in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick.

Baltimore had lost multiple centers to injury (including Danny Pinter, Jovaughn Gwyn, and Ethan Pocic) and was forced to shift Ioane inside. Jurgens, a 27-year-old former second-round pick out of Nebraska, gives the Ravens an established, long-term option under contract through 2029 after signing a four-year, $68 million extension with Philadelphia in 2025. He earned Pro Bowl nods in 2024 and 2025 and was part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX championship team.

Physical Conducted in Philadelphia After Maxx Crosby Experience

The deal carried extra scrutiny because of Jurgens’ medical history, which included back surgery in February 2025 to address nerve pain. The Ravens sent their chief medical officer and head trainer to the Eagles’ facility in Philadelphia to perform Jurgens’ physical before finalizing the trade.

This approach was a direct response to the failed March trade for Maxx Crosby. Baltimore had agreed to send two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby, only for the deal to collapse after he failed his physical in Baltimore due to knee concerns. By evaluating Jurgens on site in Philadelphia while he remained in concussion protocol, the Ravens completed the necessary due diligence without the multi-day delay and public speculation that accompanied the Crosby situation. Jurgens passed the physical, and the trade was announced shortly afterward.

What Jurgens’ Arrival Means for the Ravens Offensive Line

Once healthy, Jurgens is expected to take over at center, allowing Ioane to return to guard. Ioane has spoken positively about the move, noting the upgrade it provides for the unit overall.

Baltimore’s offensive line has been tasked with protecting Jackson and creating lanes for Derrick Henry. Stabilizing the center position with a proven starter gives the Ravens more flexibility and depth as they navigate the middle of the season. Jurgens also has guard experience from his time in Philadelphia, adding versatility if injuries arise elsewhere on the line.

Expected Ravens Debut Timeline

Schefter reported that Jurgens is expected to make his Ravens debut in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns, provided he clears concussion protocol. That timeline aligns with typical recovery windows for players in the protocol who have already passed a physical for trade purposes.

Fans and fantasy managers tracking Cam Jurgens should watch practice reports early next week for confirmation. A clean return would give Baltimore a clear upgrade at the position for the stretch run and beyond.

Bottom Line for Ravens Fans

The Cam Jurgens trade represents a calculated, aggressive move by general manager Eric DeCosta to fix a critical weakness. While the concussion delays his immediate impact, the Ravens conducted the medical review proactively and appear confident in his long-term fit. With Ioane holding the fort against the Falcons and Jackson working back from his own injury, Baltimore is positioning itself for a healthier and more experienced offensive line starting next week.
