Florida is expected to start sophomore quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. on Saturday against Oklahoma, sources told CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Jones replaced struggling starter Aaron Philo after three drives in the Gators’ 27-8 loss to Georgia last week. Philo was making his return from a shoulder injury that had sidelined him the week prior.
“It was, ‘Hey, we need a spark,’ and I thought Tramell came in and strung a few drives together,” Florida offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner said postgame when asked about the quarterback change, according to On3’s Zach Abolverdi.
